Well, I just got to the part where you last mentioned this, and I'm tittering on the inside. *titters!*

I'm trying to avoid harry potterness in my own journal, so I'm going to run around in yours! :DD

I'm liking the book so far. How'd you like it?

I liked it. Didn't love love love it, but I wasn't expecting to - JKR is a good writer but not a great one. It didn't disappoint me, and she took some steps that I am glad she did.

I'll probably put up a post for spoilery discussion at some point, if I ahve anything to say that I dont' see in other people's journals. XD

I"ll probably wait for that or something (or I could just see if you ahve some sort of IMing capabilities or something >D) because I'm too lazy to make an HP filter.

I'm about halfway through (almost to page 300), and so far, I like it. A lot of things I glimpsed at that people were ehhh ion, I didn't mind. Maybe it's because I'm going in with an open mind, dunno.

One thing I AM thankful for, is it's moving a lot faster than Phoenix.

Heehee - I haven't been on AIM for days, and for months before that, only using the SOOPER SEKRIT AIM nick that only one person knows. I have just not been into live chat-type things with people. XD

At any rate, I wasn't disappointed, and there were a few time I was cackling insanely, because I just KNEW wank would show up over them. XD

*Resolutely doesn't read any comments* You've finished it? I'm only on page 138, they haven't even got to school yet! I knew I couldn't read as fast as I used to, but now I really feel laggy and barely literate XD

Yup. :) I even put the book down for a phone call with my mom who - as I predicted on a community I posted to - phoned me to give me a blow-by-blow description of teh Harry POtter party at the library she volunteers at even though she KNOWS I was in the middle of reading it. And then went out and got lunch.

But I read faster than just about everyone I know; always have. Well, when it's something I'm interested in - textbooks are an absolute slog for me.

I did have a break to watch Spirited Away, but even if I hadn't I still wouldn't be finished :) I'm a little rusty these days, I used to be able to read 400 page novels in an evening (usually in time to take them back to school the next morning). Textbooks however are a slog for most people I think, it's just the sheer amount of dry information to take in, it's the learning equivalent of eating a pack of crackers.

I think I've also just reached the beginning of the "fanpoodle head asplodery". I so knew it was coming and yet I denied it right up until now :D

I'm just snapping my fingers around my head and making pop noises with my fingers. Pop pop pop pop.

Yup. So, so much wank to flow ... and as soon as it starts dying down, movie wank. I have many hours of entertainment ahead of me. XD

Sometimes I visualize fandom_wank, fanthropology, and metafandom as three soldiers, crouched in their foxholes, just WAITING for Hp fandom to spawn their various special interests.

The Journalfen server tends to die when there's a heavy load, and there's a heavy load this week due to the Potter wank going on, so dont' be surprised if it dies a lot. They're setting the server to automatically reboot every hour on the hour, so it'll be up at least for the first few minutes of every hour this week. :)

The others:

fanthropology is a community for analysis of fandom. It's more scientific/psychological but we do get silly occasionally. Relatively new as its a revival of an old email community.

metafandom is a community that is just posts of links to other discussions. Can be quite a buffet of information and ideas at times.
