Living La Vida 50s

Jen Byck lives like an ideal 50s housewife for 2 weeks as an experiment.
If you're keeping score at home, that makes two times now since the 50s Housewife Experiment began that I've wandered around my home sweaty, defeated and nude in the middle of the afternoon. I wonder how that compares to the real wives of the time?

Oh, that was lots of fun--thanks! (Alas, for the last couple of hours. I'm sorry, my knitting.)

Bwhahahahaha. Actually, before my mom had to go back to work, she always did stuff like that. Our house was *clean*. People always think I'm kidding when I say she would wash the house itself. Outside, the walls, you know? But she did. Great thing for allergies.

The only time my mom wasn't working for an extended period of time was when we lived in Africa, and I really have no idea how much she cleaned. But given that cleaning involved no dishwasher, no washing machine, no vacuum cleaner, etc., I suspect she spent a lot of time cleaning. XD (I have vague memories of her recruiting me to stomp on soapy clothes in the bathtub.)

Speaking of allergies. Toby's been complaining for some time about how awful his are in the mornings, and last night it occurred to me that maybe it's my down pillow. It's been exiled to the spare bedroom for a few days as we see if he improved, then we'll bring it back in and if he goes downhill ... well, I guess I get a new pillow. :)

Be sure not to miss the sequel: The 50s Housewife Experiment: Husband-Obsessed Edition (http://www.jenbutneverjenn.com/2010/10/return-of-50s-housewife-next-week.html). This is the one where she does it properly, making it all about serving her husband.

;)

I'm just starting it myself so I have no comment yet, other than generally snickering at the idea.
