THIS WAS MY MORNING
Wake up at 5:30 AM with a headache. Lie there thinking about how much I need to get up and take a Relpax or at least some Advil, then fall back asleep.
Wake up at 7:15 to clock radio. Lie there until
myrialux ofers to toast waffles, at which time I realize how hungry I am. Eat waffles, drink Coke to get caffeine in me, take Relpax, email work to say will be in at noon after meds take effect.
Decide to nap. Go back to bed.
Get woken up by phone call. Send directly to voice mail. Upon listening, discover long rambly message left by someone who has wrong number and failed to listen to outgoing message, so now someone who she's swapping shifts with at Olive Garden will never know whatever it is she was telling him.* Go back to sleep.
Get woken up by very needy Sora, who crawls under covers and purrs, kneading me with SHARP CLAWS OW OW OW, then leaves. Go back to sleep.
Get woken up by call of nature, as Relpax also is a bit of a diuretic. Go back to sleep.
Get woken up by Sora jumping on top of me, then deciding he doesn't want to be petted and jumping back off bed. Go back to sleep.
Get woken up by second call of nature: Relpax diuretic, etc. etc. Go back to sleep.
Get woken up by Nefer jumping on top of clock radio, turning it on and somehow turning the volume ALL THE WAY UP TO ELEVEN.
Give up trying to sleep. Go in to work. Type this out, trying to avoid waffleface as I am very sleepy.
Not to mention, last night one of the cats - we think Nefer - turned on the Roomba. We were just at the point of turning out the light when we heard the chirpy do-do-do-di-do! "I'm happy to clean for you!!" Roomba tune, and the whirr of it attempting to exit its dock**. We'd have left it to clean away, but if you don't prepare the area, Bad Things can happen. The time before last we set it to vacuum the kitchen, someone *coughTobycough* forgot to close the door to the hallway, and the Roomba escaped, leaving behind a small trail of destruction as it made its way into the bathroom, knocked into the cats' water bowls and slopped water everywhere, opened a cabinet door, and then dragged various bits of crud after itself into the dining room/craft area.
At least my migraine is gone, although the sleepiness remains.
* What is is with wrong numbers and restaurants? The other day someone at a Panda Express called the wrong number and got me.
** It has a tendency to take its dock with it as it goes. Usually you turn it on and hold the dock down with a foot until the Roomba gets safely clear.

People have been comparing owning a Roomba to owning a pet before, but I think yours is taking the metaphor a little bit too far!

(My cat ignores the happy little robot, but Miss B. still skitters away with visible fear EVERY TIME IT COMES NEAR HER, despite several years' worth of regular Roomba exposure! Of course, she still hasn't gotten over nervously trying to protect me from the Evil Scary Growling Upright Vacuum either, so it's accumulated quite the collection of tooth marks over the years. Let's just say she's never been a fast learner.)

Nefer tends to remain calm but alert when Sparky vaccuums, while Sora is nowhere to be seen.

Also, it looks like they've tweaked the docking station design quite a bit in the last few years, and the newer one has more, and more different types, of non-slip stuff on the bottom and a smoother path for the front wheel on the top, so if Toby's Roomba is an older model it might be a little more prone to slippage, too.
