New office pics!
All moved in to my new office and settling in!
It's tucked under the stairs and as such is somewhat large, but an awkward shape. It's the shape of an L (okay, a backwards L), and the door is in the bottom of the long leg, so you're facing down the short leg as you enter.
(Not to scale)
In this one I am standing just in the doorway, looking to my right towards the long leg where my desk and stuff are. The wall at the end is one of the walls I'd like to put a giant fake window on.

Better shot of my desk and the GIANT WINDOW ONTO THE STACKS. I do not have my desk set up in the corner because GAH BACK TO DOOR and I hate that.

Now, standing in the long leg and shooting towards the bottom of the L. This is the other wall I'd like to put a giant fake window on. As I no longer have fabric-covered cube wall on which I can clip the various anime prints I got at cons, I have to utilize the filing cabinet.

This is the short leg of the L, filled with a random desk piece that didn't fit the rest of the desk pieces they brought down from the attic, and so they left it. I don't actually mind, as if anyone needs to come work in here temporarily for whatever reasonlike if our power goes out again and Toby needs a place to work, they can sit there.

There is also a huge window in the door, and I know from experience that every single person walking by wants to look in and stare at me as they pass. This is my solution. (I finally had an excuse to buy that poster!)

As I keep the overhead lights off because the florescence drives me nuts and the lamp I brought in is darker than I expected, it's fairly dark in here. Which I don't mind that much - it helps keep me focused on the computer and my work. And the poster looks pretty awesome from the inside when backlit. I used the Hipstamatic app on my iPhone to take this one, to make it even morepretentious nifty-looking.

I need a Keep Calm Carry On poster, I think. If you need more art, All Posters is having a big sale right now. That's where I usually get my office art. (I have a couple of nice abstracts and Leighton's Flaming June.)

I think I'm looking for photos for the wall, to fake up windows, and the dramatic part of me wants HUGE ones. There's a mural of Santorini I found that would work when cut in half (it comes in 4 parts) with each half being on its own wall. I'm just figuring out how to best get it on a backing, frame it out, and how to get the Physical Plant guys to hang them.

I think the Santorini will look fabulous! Our facilities guys aren't helpful in hanging things so I have to stick to small stuff that I can tape or sticky-stuff to the walls.
