Very tired and sleepy.
myrialux and I drove down to CS to visit Mom for the weekend, and had a low-key nice time.
We also opened a 60-year-old bottle of Wild Turkey for a very good cause*. More on that anon, and because of the "more" bit, comments to the effect of how awful Wild Turkey is will very much not be appreciated. Plz to hold them until after you read the "more" bit in a day or two. Am very tired now, so will not post that story in order to do it justice.
Came home with new table that has been in the family for however many years, and the fireplace mantel my dad carved for my grandparents (who recently downsized and moved into one of those senior living apartment complexes). Have one cat who is complacent and glad we're home, and one cat who is freaked out and yet very needy at the same time. I'll let you guess who is who.
Also ended up with an expensive purse which is freaking me out because I inherited my dad's genes when it comes to shoes and purses, which means that if it costs more than $20 it seems like a horrible extravagance. I have to remind myself that I will indeed carry it every day for the next few years so the cost-per-use is going to be quite reasonable.
And now have the post-long-drive melancholy which descends after I get home and the exhaustion of the heat and drive get to me and I want to do things but I don't know what things it is I want to do. Or some such.
P.S. Seems that Derek Jacobi is going to be playing King Lear in the West End when we're in London this fall. Am extremely tempted!
