Well, the server I use for email and webspace has been down since sometime Sunday afternoon. Word has it the MySQL databases are lost, and since I follow the policy of never actually backing up anything, I've got some restoration work ahead of me in the next week or so, it looks like. However I knew that would be the case if I ever lost them, so I'm really not broken up about it, and it'll serve as a convenient excuse to update a bunch of stuff I'd never gottena round to updating.
I'm just into the shakes and hallucinations stage of email withdrawal, though...
(anyone wants to email me in the forseeable future, can do so at sfolse14 at yahoo dot com)

What I'm wondering is, does this mean my webpages are -gone-?
'Cause I just got done creating one and that's the only spot I had it ...

" * As of 10:30am, it is anticipated that the mysql databases have been lost. An attempt will be made to recover to the latest backup, but this is not expected to be usefully successful. This page will be updated when the admin is contactable for DB access requests.
* There will be further downtime around 2:30pm when attempts are made to restore access to old partitions (including the home volume, and password files)."
So I expect regular files are all OK, but the MySQL databases are GONE GONE GONE. So as long as you were doing regular HTML -- unlike me -- you *should* be fine.
I could be wrong, of course. :)

I've got info for my personal homepage, for Can't Sleep, and for ConDFW all stored in a MySQL database, so when it gets back up my scripts *should* all be working fine, but there will be no content on those pages...
*le sigh*
Oh well... if it is indeed lost, I have all the new code for my site saved on my computer. The old versions of my site would be gone though. Grr.
Re: *le sigh*
In other words, your files are safe.

Sorry, in many ways, I am computer illiterate.
Pardon my ignorance.
