You know what feels weird? This is the first year in, I think, about ten years that I'm not at A-Kon, either working as a dealer's room liaison or in the artist alley. [livejournal.com profile] myrialux and I will be dropping by for the later afternoon and evening tomorrow to ghost the con do a quick look at the AA and to have dinner with our friends, but I'm not At The Con.

I realized last weekend, as I was arguing with the printer to try to produce two correctly-adjusted copies of the picture I did for [livejournal.com profile] sartorias and [personal profile] rachelmanija, that normally I would still have been arguing with the printer on the same weekend, only I'd have been in Utter Panic Mode as there wasn't time to get either a new printer or new ink tanks, and I'd have been obsessing over the amount of paper I was wasting. This time, while I was still incandescently angry at the printer (I scared [livejournal.com profile] myrialux!), I knew that Option B, of uploading the file to one of the online print shops I know of and having them send the finished prints directly to [personal profile] rachelmanija, was a viable option.

ETA: You might find it funny that [livejournal.com profile] myrialux and i weren't really planning on hitting the con at all, just long enough to meet up with our friends for dinner, and then we realized that (a) I had a nice new camera that hasn't been used for much but cat photos, (b) there were some really nice Assassin's Creed cosplayers in previous years and we expected there would probably be some really nice AC2 cosplayers this year, and (c) [livejournal.com profile] ursulav was a guest this year. So instead of "wander over in the evening" it became "wander over in the afternoon to look at cosplayers and find Ursula Vernon's table".

Oooh, Assassin's Creed cosplayers. I've never seen those, though one year I saw an excellent Chell (Portal) and Gordon Freeman (Half-Life). One Anime Expo I even saw a Prince from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time! (Game, obviously, not movie.) And last year at Fanime there were about a zillion Team Fortress 2 cosplayers.

I really like all the tasty fandom crossover at anime cons. Makes me wish I could afford AX this year. Sigh.

I really hope we find a good Ezio! And that if there's one, s/he's not sequestered in cosplay rehearsal instead of wandering the halls. XD

If you see AC/AC2 cosplayers, you must post pics, pretty please...

I love that fact that you can casually walk over to a con in the first place ^^ - one which has professionals appearing at that.

Not quite a walk - it's in Dallas, and we're in Fort Worth, both parts of the DFW metroplex, so it's a 30-45 minute drive depending on the traffic. But it's easy enough to do a day trip for a few hours. :)
