Aaarg

The annoying part about having headaches that give referral pain to my teeth is that I don't know if I've got a headache or a toothache right now. (So far, it's always turned out to be a headache.) Guess I have to put "find a new dentist that takes my insurance" at the top of my to-do list.

Blargh. It's not *pain*, exactly, but I can feel something there.

Yikes, sounds unpleasant!

Yeah, I mean it's probably just referred pain from my mild headache, and the sensation in my teeth is there because I keep poking it with my finger or my tongue, going "Is it here? Or is it here? Does it hurts worse now? What about now?"

If I'd woken up with exactly the same sensation that I have now, I'd assume it was my sinuses acting up again, but yesterday I had a weird stabbing pain in both my temple and my tooth at the same time, which is why I can't locate which one of them is the real cause and which one is the referred pain. ARGH

My sympathies!

I need to find a new dentist, too -- I've been putting that off since the move over a year ago.... fortunately I don't seem to be having problems other than needing a tartar scaling in the usual trouble spots. Still, it's on the to-do list and really needs to be moved up in priority.

I finally switched my dental insurance from :cheaper for you but you have to go to a dentist on our list and they have to jump through such hoops that they really don't want you anyway" to the "costs me more but I can pick any damn dentist I want" plan this year precisely to spur myself to get off my butt and pick one. I shall be combing Angie's List today for dentists that are close to me and have good ratings.

Go me! Spurred by your post, I have successfully located a well-reviewed dentist nearby, and I have booked an appointment for May 4!*

Thank you for the virtual prod!

*I was offered sooner, but next week was already looking busy to my currently-severe chronic fatigue syndrome, and I wanted to minimize my risk of cancelling something due to dire spoon shortage.

Yay! I have sent email off to a dentist here, but got an error message that the confirmation page didn't exist, so I'm not actually sure that the form worked. :/ I looked at the scource code and found the email address it was attempting to send to, so will re-email if I don't get a response in the next 24 hours or so.

There are just enough problems on their website that I am half-seriously considering bartering my Web services for dental services.

Go you!

If you end up liking the dentist enough to book regular follow-ups there, barter for web work sounds like a good idea!

Woo! Hopefully they'll take me up on the idea! XD

This might normally be enough to turn me off the place, because I can't stand it when companies' websites are b0rked, but this guy's got an A and 5 glowing reports on Angie's List, which is much more than most of the others. (The other one I was considering has 12 glowing reports, which also mention that he's one of the most expensive dentists in town, plus his office is a bit inconvenient for me to get to.)

Likewise with the borked websites being a turn-off, but seems that in my area, there is an extreme shortage of dentists who have their own websites at all. The one I chose had an informative and well-updated Google maps profile, at least.

My toothaches 90% of the time are actually sinus infections that cause extreme tooth pain. How I know they are not toothaches: which tooth hurts changes every few hours. My sinus that's infected hurts not much at all, but the toothaches are about to drive me insane (and yes, I've had the teeth checked just in case).

I'm now 95% sure this one is sinus or headache-related pain because the pain/pressure/whatever it is has started to occasionally switch to the lower jaw. Go figure.
