Garden peektures!

Nefer says "meh."

Basil!

Chives! Not looking too good! I think the pot that's supposed to naturally decompose isn't actually doing so (and yes I know it's not planted deep enough - it was one of the last ones I planted and I was pretty tired by then).

Cilantro! Cilantro-ing all over the place!

Dill!

The evil mint that's EVERYWHERE.

Cilantro, basil, and rosemary, all hanging out together at one end of the bed. I have no idea who or what set the fence on fire; it was burnt like that when we moved in.

Onions in the sad non-wormy bed, which seem to be growing despite the lack of sun and earthworms.

Onions in the good bed!

Peas! They're the ones along the fence. I now have some stakes and some twine to construct a trellis for them. I don't really want them growing on the side of the fence that's in our neighbor's yard, because it would be a hassle to harvest them there.

Rosemary! Looking exactly like it did when I bought it.

Strawberry blossoms!

Baby strawberries!

And SOMETHING likes the strawberry leaves!

My sweet cayenne plant, slightly nibbled on.

Tomatoes! Too close together! Oh well! I'm not about to replant them! You can see the tiny sweet cayenne plant in front of the tomato plant on the left - I accidentally planted it too close, then after I read about peppers discovered that it's recommended that they be shaded after the temperatures rise above 80 degrees, and considering that we're about to hit that point ANY DAY NOW, I suppose it's a good thing that it will soon be in the shade of that tomato plant. The plant in front of the right-hand tomato is a bell pepper plant.

The damage our porch roof sustained in the snowstorm.

baaaaaby basil!

Also, I wouldn't worry about the chives. We had a pot of them that was near indestructible. They survived a winter on the balcony and ressurected themselves the next spring. Twice. o.O; As long as they're mostly green...

The picture of Nefer is lovely.

I have to agree about the pic of Nefer - I love the way the light is falling on her.

She's in her new favorite spot, which is just to the left of my keyboard, so I have NO EXCUSE not to scratch her when I'm at the computer.

Oh yeah, mint will take over everything. My mom will only grow it in pots for just that reason. If I recall correctly, chives are pretty resilient (and I love their flowers), but if they don't perk up in a couple days, re-planting them a little deeper should fix things. Love the whole garden, though. It makes me wish I had more sun on my balcony to grow stuff.

Yeah, the persistence of mint is one of the few gardening things I remember, and I'd grow it in pots, too. Alas, a former resident did not have the same scruples, so I am left with pulling it up wherever it encroaches on my plants. XD

Good to know, re: chives.

I am jealous of your garden, and especially jealous that you live in climes where cilantro can live.

Thanks! XD I've grown cilantro in a pot before in Denver, until the blinds knocked it off the windowsill after a big gust of wind. I repotted it, and it seemed to be doing well until my mother said "I thought cilantro was supposed to be hard to grow?" whereupon it realized it wasn't acting like cilantro and promptly died.

Looks great! I used to grow parsley, cilantro, basil, lavender and rosemary (I think, if I remember correctly...) when I had the time and a porch that actually got sun... one of them (now I can't remember which one) got really huge and crowded out the cilantro. I think it was the lavender or the rosemary. But of course they were in plastic planters and not the ground.

My mom's growing a container garden this year, since her new house has a private concrete-covered patio that gets a lot of sun. She asked for big pots for Christmas, so that's what I got her. :) She's mostly been harvesting lettuce right now.
