So ... would there be any interest if I made a few of these Buttercup Bags out of kimono scraps* and sold them on Etsy? Because I mmmmay have just bought a license to do so.**

* The scraps I can source aren't quite the size of a fat quarter, because kimono pieces are 14" wide, so I'd probably have to make the front and back different colors (or different fabrics), or piece them together in patchwork. And I'd probably make a couple out of regular fat quarters first, just to get the hang of it.

** It's ten bucks. And if I don't get around to either making or selling, I don't begrudge supporting the creator. :) You can find a bunch of different versions of it on Google Images. ***

*** And it all started because I was looking for ideas for patterns for bento bags, since my favorite one shrank in the wash and I have several boxes that are too big for normal bento bags, not to mention the days I just use plain old Gladware. I discovered this WHOLE NEW WORLD of handmade bags ... and much like kanzashi, while I don't actually use fancy bags, I now have a major desire to make them.

It depends on how much they go for, because I don't think I can afford a very expensive bag, but right now I have been toting embroidery around in cruddy plastic supermarket bags, and it kind of sucks. Being able to tote my embroidery projects around in a good pretty bag would be so much better. I have a question, though, since I can't quite tell from the photo: would an 8"x8" square embroidery frame fit in one of these bags? (Although I suppose I could stick with the smaller hoop, but I'm deeply unthrilled about hoops.)

Well, if you get an estimate of how much you'd sell them for, I am definitely interested in hearing about it. :-) At the least, I can start saving, because useful and pretty = WIN.

Oooh, nice pattern. I might buy the pattern for my mom, though that doesn't really count, does it? :D

That is a super-cute bag! And would look darling in kimono fabric! (chirimen?) But for my personal bag-buying preferences, I'd want something with a slightly longer strap, and a zip closure. I don't know if that's 1) possible with the design, 2) permitted within the license, or 3) something you'd even be interested in doing.

1) Longer strap, absolutely! And I *think* the zip would be possible, although I'd have to experiment because I'm not experienced at setting zippers into, well, much of anything. :D (I've done it, but it was years ago and I wasn't that good at it.)

2. Yup! I just need to make it clear that the original design is by Made by Rae and that this done under license.

3. Possibly! Can't say for sure! Requires me doing a couple regular ones first to see if my enthusiasm stays. :D

Adorable! I, too, would be interested in a zipper and slightly longer strap! =D

I love the idea and would promo them on my f'list, but can't buy nothin' I'm not already committed to.

Different fabrics would look really great.

I'd definitely be interested, depending on price.

Eeee!
I think I want to try making one, too!
But just for me. XD I don't gots time to be sewing for other peoples.

And depending on the fabrics used, I could see myself buying one of these!
