Sort of on-topic: did you give up on Shadow Star because the Evangelion vibes? I'm totally digging the happy the beginning, but it's getting darker for, as far as I can tell, no logical reason. I'm also getting the feeling that there are chapters missing, which was my number one Evangelion complaint.
I don't really remember why I gave up on it. I sort of just gently drifted off, I think, because I didn't really care about any of the characters, and the story wasn't gripping enough to make me want to know what happened next.
