Book 'lending' costs publishers billions!

The HORROR.

...book trafficking culture was evident, with many travelers brazenly displaying the totebags used to transport printed contraband. *snerk*

I myself collected five totebags from vendors in the Exhibits area!

I went and fetched several of these offline lending books home in one of them, just a few hours ago. Will I burn in hell for that?

OBVIOUSLY

Heh heh... I remember when TV and movie studios were threatening to sue school districts for taping documentaries and movies to show in the classroom! And screaming like murder at the idea of selling movies on tape! Because the video recorder was going to KILL their business.

I don't have any references at my fingertips, but IIRC publishers of the 18th century did oppose the whole concept of a lending library and wanted it outlawed. :D Seems like having a profit lock on one particular distribution channel always means you want it to STAY that way for the rest of time, and the consumer be ding-danged.

Sweet Jesus! You mean they weren't only using copyrighted material, but they were using it for non-profit, education-based activities? Those sick bastards!
