Thanks. I've got caffeine - sucking down a Diet Dr. Pepper right now. And eating a Power Bar because it usually hurts slightly less if my blood sugar is up. I've taken my meds, but they take 2 hours to kick in, so right now it's just EEEEEAAAAAAEAEEAAEEAA until they do.
Gyaaaah, that so sucks. Migraines blow the big one--I used to get them really bad, so I am so, so sorry. That waiting for the meds to kick in is the *worst*.
I only started getting them a few years ago, and from talking to people and reading about them, I've got relatively mild ones - they've never sent me to the hospital. But when they come on, I get head pain, am sick to my stomach, and they stick aroud for up to two days if I don't take drugs.
I just went outside and took a walk around the building - moving and being in natural light instead of flourescent light helps a bit, although it'll probably come back now that I'm inside staring at a computer again.
I used to get the kinda sucky ones--I was cursed to be light-sensitive, meaning lights would set one off. If I saw halos around things, I knew I had about ten seconds to get some caffeine and fast, or end up in so much pain I wouldn't be able to move my head, and would be functionally blind until the headache stopped. Luckily, they're prettty rare now.
I'm not light-sensitive or aura-prone in any way - when the bad ones start, or when they're really chronic low-grade ones, the only way they differ from regular headaches is that OTC drugs don't touch them.
And I just actually threw up for the first time ever in a migraine - I get nausea, but no further - so as soon as I can be sure I'm not going to throw up in the car, I am Going the Fuck Home.
Have you asked your doctor about taking something to prevent the migraines from coming on in the first place? I think beta-blockers are frequently used for that.
Thanks. :) I'd go home from work except that sitting in a car with a migraine is marginally more unpleasant than sitting at work with one, and the meds *should* be kicking in about 10AM. Not that I can get much accomplished between now and then.

Migraines just suck. Naps help greatly, though.
