The English translation of the first Vampire Hunter D novel is out! Nobody had it that I could see at A-Kon - the manga pickings were very slim, due I expect to the sheer mass of manga in the stores nowadays - but I found it totally by accident at Barnes & Noble when I went there this afternoon. So, yay. And I splurged on Bangkok Tattoo in hardback, since I liked Bangkok 8 so much. Now if only the next Blade of teh Immortal trade would hurry up and hit the shelves, I'd be one ecstatically happy camper.

[livejournal.com profile] eegatland, I have conclusively proven that The Winter Prince is not in any bookstore I can conveniently get to, so I'm going to have to break down and interlibrary loan it if nobody sends it to me stares intently at [livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija.

The sheer mass of Manga in stores?

I swear, I must be the only one in Maine that reads manga, most of the book stores I've gone to around here don't even know what manga is, I have to refer to them as "graphic novels", and then I'm pointed to a section that has maybe 12 mangas, all volume 1, you have to special order any volume beyond that.

Waldenbooks is my only savior, almost everything I own comes form there.

The plus side is the cash I make reselling limited edition stuff on ebay, since I can still buy it usually long after it's sold out in everywhere else! :D

The Borders I go to has 7 cases of manga (they're about 4 feet tall each) and 2 of non-manga graphic novels. It's the most well-stocked of any of the stores around here. [livejournal.com profile] mundeemo swears by Waldenbooks, but ... man this Borders beats everything. Including, sadly, Barnes & Noble, because B&N has that 10% off card which I'd wield like a maniac if I could. Instead I'm on the Borders email list and wait the coming of the twice-weekly 15% off coupon and use it the instant it hits my mailbox. XD

*er, twice-monthly, that is.

I'm always looking foward to Waldenbook's "buy 4 get one free sale" they run usually once a month. It averages out to 20% off!

Borders has taken to the occasional unannounced buy-two/three/four-get-one-free sale. Which I am totally all about. :)

Looks like [livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija's already taken care of the problem, but thanks. :D
