Didn't comment on previous post, but man, this is fantabulously cool. I especially love the draping of the shirt, with the shadows, and the beautifully angular, steady hands.
(...I like hands. It's a thing. :-D)
Also: geez, it's been ages since I used this icon!
The current plan is to do overpainting on Color or Hue layers, like glazing, but I'll keep whatever looks good.
I'm practicing some of the techniques in the DVD I mentioned in the previous post, and he does a full grayscale picture of the face before tinting it. I figured, since color tends to be my downfall and I know I'm good at B&W, why not give it a shot? :D
Ah, I missed this post, baaaaw! I really like how you've adapted the reference to work for you, instead of the other way around, changing small things like the angle of the cigarette.
:D Thanks! Yeah, I can see replicating a photo exactly if you want the technical practice or if you are hired to do so by a client, but otherwise the point of being an artist is to interpret reality. XD

If you don't sell a million copies there is something wrong with the world.
Are you keeping it in B/W?

Can't wait to see how you do the glazing step. This is going to knock 'em dead in living color. :)
