Aargh, I want to do some drawing* but have absolutely no idea what to draw.

* What I really want to do is make kanzashi, but I have learned from hard experience I can't do that while Sora is up and active, like he is in the evening. I have to wait for the afternoon, when he's napping, so it'll be Sunday before I can work on them.

Maybe the new painting technique with a kitty? I don't think I have seen you do many animals.

Someone dancing with a fan? Er, using paper fans to dance with, not, say, waltzing with an electric fan.

The latter actually sounds more interesting.

Depends on the size of the paper fan! I'm not sure how receptive a dance partner a large fan would be, though. ;)

I was actually envisioning something like a ballet dancer, trying to keep cool while still practicing her pas a deux, using a small oscillating fan rather than a big floor fan.

Hah! That would be pretty epic. Hmm...

*wibbles* If I look cute enough, will you draw me a pony? :) I have had a very bad day. The evil Dead Historical People cut out part of their records with a razor!! AAAAA! *sobs*

How large of a piece of material do you need to make the kanzashi? What types of material do you use?

I have TONS of fabric scraps from several years of sewing projects that I would be happy to share with you. I was originally saving them for a crazy quilt, but I have WAY more than I need for it.

Ooh, nifty, thanks! :D

So far I've used cottons, and vintage kimono scraps, which are silk and silk blends. I'm open to trying any sort of fabric, although the easier it is to hold a crease, the easier it is to work with, and the smaller kanzashi especially are hard to do with thicker fabrics, as it wants to be flat while I'm trying to glue it down folded. XD

I starch the hell out of it and iron it to make the squares of fabric sort of crisp, so anything that can hold up to that is useful.

It doesn't take much - the petals are made from squares ranging from 3/4" - 2" depending on what size the final one is, and I use between six and ... well, if I were doing a big chrysanthemum, I could probably have up to fifty petals in it. XD So the minimum size would be about 2" x 3" - if it were cut PERFECTLTY straight XD - on up.

Although, as I save extra squares that I didn't use and will eventually make mismatched-petal kanzashi, even smaller scraps could be used. :)

Thanks!
