Person posts picture she drew of five original characters in a band to [livejournal.com profile] homemade_manga

Commenter points out that the characters all look alike and offers crit as to why that's bad and what to do about it.

Original poster spazzes out, posts an "OMG I'm leaving!" message with the comments disabled.

More commenters start hitting the original post to protest.

*sits and waits for the wank to arrive*

The OP will probably have deleted that post by tomorrow morning, but I hope not. I'm up for some good wank.

"I am perfectly happy with my art style as are many others out there so yay for me!"

Your icon *says it all*.

And god, I hope there's more wank. Because oooh, the drama.

I can't help but think that if she were perfectly happy with her art style, then she wouldn't be so sensitive with regards to it. Although "every character looks like a clone" doens't really qualify as "style" to me.

At least she's consistent?

Well, you certainly don't have to worry about making your characters look the same from panel to panel when you've only got one character. XD

Judging by a good deal of the cheap shoujo I've seen, that's how it works. c_c

Maybe she's actually a genius!

I suppose you could always save the webpage in a folder labeled "Stoopid"

I have to say that I think Hey hey, go easy on her, they are not all the same, one of them is clearly a dwarf. might just win the Internet.

Hmmm... Yes, quite disturbing. I think homemade_manga is made up of a bunch of great users - I've never seen any rude or out of line comments. It's a bit sad that that person didn't like constructive criticism... maybe I should post a "please leave a note if you don't want criticism" warning? Some people just don't like it I guess. Anyway, I'm not sure if I should erase it or not... Maybe I'll just post a response to the general situation and modify the user info to talk about that *__*

If you're taking about deleting the post - I wouldn't. I think it'd bring up even *more* internet drama. If it spills beyond that other post, or if anyone goes and harasses her on her LJ, I think that justifies a beatdown with the modstick, but so far it's not dramatic enough (mind you, I'm saying that without having gone over to the community this morning to read. XD)

But I think a message in the userinfo saying that if you don't want criticism, please make that very clear in the post is a good response - I know there's people out there who are very self-conscious about their art and won't post it for fear of crit and I wouldn't want them to feel unwelcome, and there's people who really aren't interested in improving, but just enjoy the act of creating art, so if they're not going to heed any advice there's no point in having us waste our time giving it.

Yes, they are clones, but they could easily be distinguished with judicious application of bright colors, e.g. from a pride rainbow. Like, maybe to their entire bodies and clothes, not just their hair.

Doesn't anyone watch anime or movies these days? The sheer ignorance displayed by real people and people in movies/anime/TV is astounding. Sheesh. I quite liked the animated "Star Wars: Clone Wars", but really, I couldn't help shouting at Obi Wan for how stupid he was being at times.
