Since I'm heading out to Mom's now...

...and don't know when I'll be next online, here's another bit of the Yuuko box.



Fancy tea! I was shopping at Central Market and showing [livejournal.com profile] myrialux the loose-tea section (he's a tea fanatic) and saw these, which were the 2nd and 3rd most expensive teas there. But teas are light, and these bits are each capable of brewing several cups, so the approximately $1.20 price tag for each is still cheaper than buying them at Starbucks or some such. :) (The most expensive tea was $200/pound, and although it's only cost me $1.50 or so to get enough for one cup for testing purposes, I decided against it. :D)



This is the text on the labels (more or less):
Yunnan Tuocha Small Pu-erh Bowls
Moderate Caffeine
Yunnan, China
Steepings: 8

Individually wrapped young Pu-erh tea pressed into single serving bowls. Pu-erh is a good choice to serve with food, especially dim sum or other hearty south east Asian fare. Bowls can be steeped up to 8 times each.

Unwrap paper and use 1 unit. Rinse leaves by pouring a small amount of hot water into teapot, just enough to cover top of leaves. Pour out immediately. Pour 6 oz. to 1 cup hot water and let steep. (Pu-erh tea, 190-205 F, steep 1.5 minutes. Can be reused 5 to 8 times.) Drain tea completely into cup and enjoy! Re-infuse tea by pouring hot water onto the leaves and let steep.

White Hand-Tied Flower Bouquet
Steepings: 3-4

This hand-tied tea unfurls in hot water to display a beautiful flower.

Use 1 bundle, placed in cup. Pour 6 oz. to 1 cup hot water at 180-190 F and let steep 1.5 minutes. Can be reused 3 to 4 times. Re-infuse tea by pouring hot water onto the leaves and let steep.


Wrapped in corrugated cardboard that came in ... shoot, I've forgotten *what* I bought that had corrugated cardboard wrapping it. Anyway, I repurposed the cardboard and threw a band of some paper with leaves and petal and twigs in it that I used to wrap other stuff.

You have just made me decide it's time to get up and go make a cup of the loose-leaf jasmine tea I never use because I thought I had to have a teaball instead of letting it be loose. :D

You don't have to have a teaball or other types of infuser, or a teapot with a built-in strainer, so long as you don't mind dealing with a few leaves swirling around the bottom of your cup. :)

(Mind you, it can be very nice to have those things if you use loose tea frequently -- less wastage of leaves that you could be reinfusing that way! But they're certainly not an absolute necessity.)
