This wrap is supposed to be for something small, like one piece of candy. Worked quite well for the keychain.

I raided my BPAL stash and got rid of graciously donated a bunch of stuff that didn't work on me, but I never got around to selling. I've got a bunch more. *sigh*

The recipient said she likes resins, which unfortunately I do, too, so most of these are things that didn't work on me that I'd tried because they had amber in them. XD



AND THEY'RE ALL WRAPPED SEPARATELY! This is a nifty wrap: make a cylinder, flatten one side and glue it, slip your item in, then flatten the other side perpendicular to the first. Ends up looking like a packet of creamer.

:D It was fun to come up with stuff. Much of the time. Other times it was agonizing to try to think of items. XD

I can't believe I found so much stuff to go in. There were a few bigger things I wanted to put in that I couldn't quite make happen, whether for want of inspiration or what, and I think I kept collecting the other stuff as a substitute without realizing quite how much of it had accumulated.

So... I don't really know anything about perfume, but I have really been dying to try the BPAL thing. I just don't know anything to even guess what scents to try for. How did you order yours? Do you think the price is worth it?

I started by ordering a sample pack from BPAL, then ended up buying imps (the sample sizes) from people online in the BPAL communities.

It's a decent hobby because you can usually trade or sell what doesn't work for you - a couple of years ago was the big BPAL bubble where people would make money by buying rares on LJ and then immediately reselling them on eBay for 2 or 3 times the price they bought. But the company stomped on that by requesting the moderators of the BPAL communities put the same price caps on resales that the official BPAL forum did*, and by re-issuing some of the rarer ones.

As far as the cost goes - once you find what you like, it's good because a bottle only cost $15.00-25, depending on the components (the General Catalog ones are all $15.00 and the limited editions and special category ones cost more, due to the price of the components) and lasts forever, because you don't need to put a whole lot on. Once you get used to perfume oil, regular perfume smells like alcohol right out of the bottle and it takes a few minutes for the alcohol to disperse. :)

If you email me on Sunday or Monday, I'll throw together a sample pack from the imps I've got and send it on to you, although since most of mine are a year or so old, the scent may have shifted a bit. But you might get a bit of an idea which components work on you. You can *also* order perfume oil samples from another retailer that costs less, like Mythos Mixtures (http://www.mythosmixtures.com/), to test and see what seems to work for you and what doesn't, if you want fresher oils to test with (and if you fall in love with one of them, their bottles are less expensive). Also, put together a wishlist of what sounds good and post it to bpal_wishlists: occasionally someone will send you freebies or will offer to sell it to you.

bpalmarketplace - selling only, no wishlists or ISO (in search of). No price caps
bpal_swaps - Swaps only, so after you get some samples you can post here seeking others and listing what you have for swap.
bpal_feedback - If you want to buy from someone on one of the comms, they often have a post here for feedback from previous exchanges and sales.
bpal_isos - ISO lists
bpalanonymous - Talk only. No sales, swaps, or ISOs. Also not BPA customer serice: ask the Lab, not these guys, if there's a problem. :D
bpal_decants - if you want to join a decant circle and try some limited editions for less money
bpal_thank_you - Thank-you posts were overwhelming other comms, so they set this one up.
bpal_excathedra - The official BPAL comm, which is composed of posts made announcing new stuff - the same posts you get if you sign up for their mailing list.
and last but not least...
sinandsalvation - the officially unofficial BPAL comm. Have strict rules about what days you can post sales/swaps/ISOs and decant circles. Observe BPAL price caps. Are draconian in rules and moderation because they have to be - this used to be a hotbed of wank and ended up on fandom_wank several times. :)


* It's voluntary - you can still sell elsewhere and on eBay and make as much money as you want, you just can't sell on these communities and do that, but since huge amounts of BPAL-buying people are on them, the market willing to pay so much dried up. :)

Heh heh, if you've still got TONS leftover after making up rayechu's sampler, I could potentially be interested in taking some off your hands, I haven't picked up any new imps in a while. From past discussions it seems like we have somewhat different tastes and skin chemistry so some of the ones that were fail on you might be just what I'm looking for. Got a list handy of the ones you're looking to sell off? ;)

Seriously I feel bad because I was excited at everything I didn't take pictures BEFORE the fact. Just... uh... after.

But it's all SO BRILLIANT. And I love all the scents. I'm going to see which work best on me, but amber isn't my kill point (thankfully!) so THANK YOU SO MUCH I LOVE EVERYTHING IN THERE.

And I wish I could just... I dunno... be more articulate or some such but I just love it all so much.

I figured if the scents didn't work on you, you could swap or sell for scents that *did*, so it'd all work out in the end. :D
