Yuuko box!

No, it hasn't reached its destination yet, but the recipient suggested that I could post the pictures now, if I wanted, and she just wouldn't look. :)

So I think I'll just stretch it out over a number of posts, to BUILD DRAMATIC TENSION.

The schtick I did with this was to wrap EVERY SINGLE THING SEPARATELY in some sort of hopefully attractive* manner, many times using a book on Japanese gift wrapping for inspiration. I totally forgot to photograph this item before I wrapped it, and the ichibankanusa.com site where I got it is down for maintenance this weekend, so I can't see if they still have it in stock to link to.

Anyway, here's the wrapped box:

The paper's from Ikea - [livejournal.com profile] myrialux and I got seating for our various apartments there a few weeks ago, and in the bottom-floor section of the store where they put all their impulse-buy stuff, I found two rolls of handmade-looking paper, each with five sheets of several different colors, for $ .99 each. Score! Most of the Yuuko box stuff is wrapped in it. This particular wrap isn't meant to have the belt across it, but I think I was using tape instead of glue at this point, and it wasn't strong enough to hold that flap down, so I did a band in a contrasting color.

WHAT IS IN THIS BOX? I hear you say from here! It contains a round glass Japanese wind-chime that looks a lot like the one on the bottom in this page - an open-bottom glass bowl with a paper piece that blows against the glass and makes a chime. I think it has koi painted on it.

STAY TUNED FOR THE NEXT INSTALLMENT OF "WHAT'S IN THE YUUKO BOX!"

* And managed to do it most of the time. Sometimes ... not so much. XD
