Or perhaps a paper due: I just went up to the ref desk and there's a kid at a table nearby with a laptop open, a calculator being wielded, a sheaf of papers in front of him, a textbook open to the side, another textbook next to him, a bottle of water, two cans of Red Bull, and three packs of cigarettes on the table in front of him.

One hopes smoking is not permitted in the library ... ?

I certainly hope it's a paper and not an exam. If he's tired, all that caffeine and nicotine will do nothing but make him tired and very VERY hyper ... he'll still produce wrong answers, but at twice the speed!

Nope, no smoking allowed here! Presumably he wants them within arm's reach for quick break-taking purposes. :D

At any rate, he's gone now and has taken all his paraphernalia with him, except for three pieces of paper which are under the table. I hope he doesn't need them. (Someone else is now sitting there, or I'd go rescue them.)
