...at anything resembling art. Why? Because in a fit of idiocy I picked up John Scalzi's Old Man's War AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO PUT THE DAMN THING DOWN.
I HAVE TO RETURN CLOTHING TO A STORE* RIGHT NEXT TO A BARNES & NOBLE.
* Ordered from Lane Bryant, two items looked awful on me, and found when filling out the return slip that I could return them to a store, saving me shipping. Woo!
It doesn't matter *what* I pick up from there, it looks horrific on me. On the other hand, my MOTHER constantly drops off shirts that she just 'happened to buy' from there. No clue what my size is or anything, and they always look fantastic on me. It's freaky.
And ahaha about your second comment. Yes I think your caps lock is stuck.
Go ahead and cross off the weekend too so you can read The Ghost Brigades and The Lost Colony, just in time for Zoe's Tale to come out August 18th.
I just bought The Sagan Diary at Worldcon today but have left it in the plastic wrap because I know if I read the opening paragraph there's no hope but to read it through to the end. At least it's pretty short.
I'm at Worldcon and couldn't tear myself away from finishing The Last Colony to go to Friday morning's panels. Soooo good.
I'm going to attempt to do the audiobook version of The Ghost Brigades this weekend, which will give me at least ten hours of art while listening to it. And then will probably run to the bookstore to get The Lost Colony.
WHY DID I HAVE TO DO THIS NOW, INSTEAD OF AFTER ANIMEFEST?
There's also a free bonus story "After the Coup" (http://tor.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=story&id=49) at Tor.com, suitable for reading anytime after you finish Old Man's War.
Errr, which you can totally wait to read until after Animefest! (at least it's short...)
Did that with Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series a few months back. Lot of frantic absolute-last-minute scrambling on my assignments as a result. Read two books in a sitting, realize "oh, shit, I've got a paper due!", repeat.

THE SEQUEL IS ON AUDIBLE.COM! I CAN READ IT *AND* DO ART AT THE SAME TIME!
AND IT WILL TAKE ME LONGER TO LISTEN TO THAN TO READ, KEEPING ME FROM BUYING THE THIRD BOOK, NOT IN AUDIO, FOR A WHILE.

Understanding and sympathies about your art.
