Took Relpax earlier today. Have no pain at all, but man I'm spacey.

Yeah, it does that, big-time. I try hard not to drive on Relpax.

Today is Relpax PLUS Fioricet. Wheeee! I can not haz brane.

Although, as somebody else on my flist pointed out, researchers have finally realized that migraine itself makes you spacy, and affects mood.

My worst Relpax experience happened a couple of years ago, when I was on something-or-other for my knee after I fell and injured a ligament. I was at the reference desk, felt a migraine coming on and popped a Relpax, and spent most of the day unexpectedly and pleasantly stoned. Wasn't really able to do a whole lot of reference work, but the few people who came by were understanding when I apologized and said I was on migraine medication.

When the choice is between the pain (and nausea) (and bad mood) (and...you get the idea) or spacey (though, of course, spacey also comes with the above package), I take the spacey and damn my body and the limits of modern medicine in much mellower tones.

Jeez Louise, all I ever get with my meds is dizziness and dry mouth and mood swings! Humph!

OH man, I never had to deal with migraines until about five years ago (I suspect pre menopausal problems) and omfg crickets covered in crackers on a leprechaun shitwagon!!! For about two years I went through one thing after another, they all racked up my blood pressure to stroke level and made the migraine WORSE, I was ready to start using bullets to the temple as a solution when a neuro gave me a sample of relpax.

RELPAX IS GOD **BOWS DOWN TO THE RELPAX**

I have NEVER had a med so effective, and I have an epic level of drug tolerance....I can take shit that would get Vin Diesel, Schwarzenegger and some other really huge guy so stoned they'd be comatose and still be wide awake...but replax puts me OUT, thank god. 35 minutes and the migraine is GONE.

Now just getting the @#($%#&!$!@# insurance company to COVER it is a whole nother headache.

I am SO RELIEVED that the only problems I've had with insurance is at the very first, when some dimwit keyed in my Social Security number wrong so they had no record of me when my doctor's office tried to confirm the insurance. The HR department of my school got on the case and managed to get it straightened out within the day, and the doctor gave me a 50% discount for the visit and a pack of Relpax samples when they thought it might not be covered. It was the first migraine I'd had since being employed, and they offered to reschedule the appointment for a time when the insurance mess was worked out, but I said "IhavetoseehertodayIhaveamigraine!!" and they got me in quickly. XD

oh you are so lucky...I'm on medicare and medicare insurance is the pits since Bush and the private concerns screwed with it..doctors will actually overwite some scrips a couple of times and advise you to put back a couple weeks worth of meds for when insurance companies decide to be asses about filling stuff. I have been in a six month battle with my current insurance company trying to get most of my meds filled because it's not on their tier list, some of these meds have potentially FATAL consequences if you abruptly discontinue...thank god the doctor I had before I moved understood those issues and helped me stock up some, plus I really skimped to get even further ahead.

One of the worst screw ups in american medical care (and there are so many) was when they let the pharmacies dictate what doctors could and could not prescribe. That should not be legal.

Ugh that sucks, to put it mildly. I've been watching people on my f-list battle their insurance companies, the state, and who knows what-all back and forth for their various conditions constantly reminding me, as the saying has it, there but for the grace of God go I.
