I think you're expressing have a very black-and-white view of the world. I happen to have a deeply-held conviction that marriage is something between two families, and that is not the business of the government. It has nothing to do with my fandom activities, and insinuating that I support marriage equality only because of an association with fandom is, actually, rather insulting to my intelligence.

I am also not sure why you are attempting to peg me as a slasher, as I don't know where in my LJ I've given that impression. Romantic and sexual relationships of whatever composition are not my focus in fic and art. If I wanted to read a romance novel, I'd go read a romance novel. ETA: I prefer well-written fic. If someone writes a certain pairing into their fic, I don't care who makes it up if the two characters are legal and consenting and well-written enough to convince me of it.

When I refer to slash here, it's almost always as a joke. I don't limit myself to any particular subset of fandom.

All speech carries implications, and the speaker is responsible for knowing what they are. It is disingenuous to protest "But I didn't mean that!" afterward.

If you decide not to accept responsibility for the implications of your speech and actions, the proper response is to apologize for the misunderstanding.

And my journal is a free area for anyone to talk. You do not dictate who can and cannot answer you here. Own your own speech. If you choose not to, you are welcome to leave.
