Art shows! And anime cons!

People near DFW: it looks like someone's starting a new anime and gaming con: YuleCon, in early December in North Fort Worth. Head over to their forums (went up yesterday!) and tell them what you want to see at the con. (*coughartistalleyandartshowcough*)

Also! My usual begging for ideas! The mail-in art shows at anime cons I mentioned in my previous post take non-fanart only,* and while I've got a couple of pieces suitable for that so far, I need inspiration for more! :D So if you have ideas, give 'em over here!



* Otakon's rules are wack: the artist alley allows things like realistic versions of anime characters, as that's enough of a transformation to count as 'parody,' they say, but I think the art show doesn't want to go that far.

I want Yaone in a sari*!! But as I have met fans of the series who do not remember her name, I do not recommend this as a popular print and will just save up for a commission continue to fantasize. ;P

• Tsubasa: Kurogane licking Fai's neck because THIS WILL NEVER NOT BE HOT; Syaorans/Sakuras double-fight free-for-all; Kurogane & Sakura doing something because they never interact enough, I dunno, maybe Sakura standing on Kurogane's shoulders to reach something high (that he can't ninja his way up to get? because it's beneath his ninja dignity?)


• Princess Tutu: snuggly realism!Fakiru (REALISTIC BALLERINA THIGHS OF DOOM!) reading feminist fairytales; Herr Drosselmeyer in malicious looming WRITER'S BLOOOOCK form as Fakir pelts him with darts and crumpled paper and Ahiru stabs with a pen


• Furuba: Kyou forced to don fancy New Year's dress and dance; Kyou & Tohru on a date on the roof!; Manabe & Kyou pranking Yuki

Do you read Chibi Vampire/Karin, which I have just started? It is A)kind of adorable, B)surprisingly popular WTF, and C)ripe for vampire hilarity, e.g. one of the vampires is only attracted to the blood of stressed people (he sucks the stress from them, as you do!), and while he is adamantly heterosexual, I have this vision of him falling splat into yaoi cliche when confronted with the cast of Fruits Basket.

Edit: Does fanart of books without visual equivalents count? Could you do Twilight or Twilight-esque art? It's popular as hell, it seems.

It needs to sell as prints or as originals. I'm not sure of the appeal of things like the Four Bishounen in print format - they seem better suited for things like keychains.

Do a scene from the mahabhrata -- I think that's so far out of copiright it doesn't count as fanfic. What about Draupadi's neverending sari, or Aejuna shooting the fish via the reflecting pool?

Shweood suggest: alien angels. Sje says with your grip of moveement and beauty and strangeness you could pull it off withour making it a cliche.
