Sssso.....

...if I made Cosplay Bingo sets and sold them for $5 each, would you get one?

A set would include 10 bingo cards, each different, and 100 cardstock chips (laminated). The chips would be in their own plastic bag that fit in a larger bag with the cards. The number of chips is assuming that 4 players would be playing a blackout game where you fill in every spot on the card. If you think you'd need more chips, I could throw in more at $1/100. If you didn't catch me at a con, you'd have to pay shipping which would probably run $2.50ish for the US and Canada, 3.50 elsewhere.

I have a boring poll today that you can't see the answers on. :) I have to see if I'd get enough pre-orders to pay for the first batch, which is the point where I'd feel OK making them. If not, well, I'll just make myself one set and we can play it at A-Kon.

I love the idea of the bingo cards, but not so much the laminated chips, because what if bumped all my chips off the card, or I wanted to adjurn to another area, or put things aside because the panel I was waiting for is finally starting, or whatever?

I think I'd prefer something like laminated bingo cards which I could mark with a wet-erase marker. Would that be possible, even if just for mail orders (I guess the wet-erase marker would be a problem when selling at cons)?

Or maybe peel-off-able sticker-dots?

Not for $5 a set. At $10 a set, maybe.

Yeah, agreed - something portable for con use would be best, I think.

I have no idea how to do something like that for a price that would allow me to actually make a profit at $5/set. And I spent a long time pricing bingo chips. :)

I include my time as part of the cost. I can get cheap laminated tokens online. I can't get laminated cards for cheap as far as I know.

Oh lord, one of my posts spawned this? xD. I'd certainly buy one! I'll conveinently be at Akon as well!

:D If I can fund the first batch from pre-orders, I'll ahve them to sell at the con. If not, I'll probably have one set of my own to play with. XD (I did request a table next to PZB so we might actually be next to each other.)

[identity profile] renegadekitsune.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 11:06 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think PZB is going this year. Unless she is and hasn't told me...If that's the case I might have to beat the woman...

I would buy the laminated card for sure and if the chips come with it that is good too. I won't be at A-Kon, but I would buy enough for my friends to take to our local con for when we need a sit down break, but are too brain dead to have conversation. I would order about 4 or 5.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
OK, then maybe not. :D

[identity profile] kintail.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oohh okay I get it now. I thought you were making, laminating, and cutting your own tokens and therefore it was going to be a huge amount of work for little (if any) profit, so I was trying to think of ways that might make it easier for you, too, as well as for the players. Oops!

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be cheaper to cut my own, but a short experiment with my 1" punch and a sheet of paper convinced me that NO WAY IN HELL was I going to make them on my own. XD

(and yay for the ability to edit when I accidentally hit tab and post the comment before I finish!)

It sounds like a fun idea but I'm so not a con-goer. Every year I plan to go to the only VT con and every year I don't make it up there.

That would require me to actually have the money to attend cons in the first place. ;-)
