More apartment pics!
After work today I went by the new apartment complex to give them my electricity account number and to get more photos with the new camera. I ahve now THOROUGHLY photographed the apartment. And also asked them for a floorplan of my model, so I didn't have to fuss with making it up from the other model anymore.
I think I've finally got a layout that might work,
That big chest of drawers isn't going to fit *anywhere* hidden away. I wnted it in the closet, but the built-in shelf prevents it from getting put in there, I think. (But the short chest of drawers shouldn;t have that problem. I think. It'll fit under one of the sets of shelves, no problem.) So it goes against the bedroom wall where I can stare at it and resent it for being there. It will provide the cat with somehwere she can sit and look superior to me. I'm going to put the three bookshelves I call New Bookshelves in the bedroom (teh horror!), but if I get shades and bolt 'em to the top of the bookcases, they'll blend into the wall a bit.
In the office area, it'll be a bit differeint, most likely. The Scanner or Printer Carts can fit under the desk out of the way while I'm not working with whichever one it is. The other one can sit beside it. (I've got one of those carts, holding art supplies, under that desk right now, so I know it'll fit and give me plenty of space. The two Bigger Bookcases can fit against that back wall and hold reference books.
I think I'm probably going to get the Tylosand Loveseat from Ikea. I'm keeping the End Table because I need a place to put my drinks and a table lamp. The Coffee Table is actually this padded bench, and is a wonderful place to put your feet up, put your laptop, or to store your cat. I think I'm going to indulge in the 6' Expedit Bookcase from Ikea - in the dark color, naturally. It's a 6' x 6' unit with a 5x5 grid square of shelves in it, and you can get drawers and door and things to provide hidden storage.

Here's a few I want to point out.

I'm a corner apartment, over my garage, and on the other side there's a stairway entrance. Even better? That stairway goes to the side of the building that has NO PARKING except for the garages. So there will be very few people going up and down those stairs. :D

Now this is where I ahd a bit of a disappointment today. You see, last time I TOTALLY FORGOT to lok in the garage for THIS unit and was going off my memories of the SHOWCASE unit. Bad idea! I don't have the ginormous storage area that one had. But the garage is wider than I expected, and there's still storage space, so I'm not going to ahve a problem. I just won't have STORAGE SPACE. XD

This is what I ahve for storage space, not the big room in the other apartment. What the deal is, is that the first-floor apartment on the other side of that wall takes up more space in this building than it did in the other one. The garage next door to mine attaches to that apartment, I beleive.
But the niche yous ee above and the niche next to the door still give lots of space. It's just not all in one room like the other place.
Something I like: there's a peephole in teh garage door.
Something I REALLY like: there's separate breaker switches for just about everything in this apartment. Unlike my current one, which has EVERYTHIGN in the livingroom, dinihng room, and kitchen except for the stove on ONE switch.
My garage from the OUTSIDE. I'm at the corner of the property, and there's no parking but for the garages here. It's all on the otehr side of the building.
Once this tree grows more, I'll have something shading my view from the warehouse on the other side of the fence. :)

You have modern wiring! God, I envy you. The midair outlet in the closet might be for charging things (like a cordless vac)? A light? The balcony is wide enough to be usable! But the dinky window in the bedroom... I do not understand.
Go bluebonnets! Set seed and spread!

I am jealous of the pool though.
Not that odd on the living room window placement - maybe so an entertainment center or sofa can fit between them?

You'll have to report on the soundproof-ness. One thing that you can never really tell until you move in. For our apato, you can hear everything that goes on in the next apartment by sitting in the bathroom - it's as if they are right there. This is better than in the last apartment where I could hear my downstairs neighbors loud sex coming up through the floor. It didn't help that I slept on a Japanese-futon inspired bed...
Also - corner apartments are the way to go!
