I am trying to recall the last time I saw one of these things where the most frequent commenter wasn't the person who owned the journal. It's always made sense to me that it would be, because the journal owner generally tries to answer everyone else, but it feels like there ought to be somebody somewhere who's a statistical anomaly...

Speculating away madly, I'd probably say that LJs where the owner didn't try to answer back at least a large proportion of commenters probably don't have many commenters and watchers, because that's part of what builds community.

OTOH, as couter-evidence, ursulav doesn't comment back much, because it would be too overwhelming to do so, and she gets scads and scads of commenters on every entry. So maybe my guess doens't hold true, or maybe it holds true except in cases where the owner is especially entertaining or something.
