...I just turned off anonymous commenting here. I'm sick of the spambots that are hitting older entries, and having to delete those comments, and I'm really tired of anonymous commenters who don't leave some way for me or anyone else to reply. The most recent one was an anonymouse who helpfully "corrected" a fact on one of my posts about the Death Note novel in a way that left a major spoiler, and I have no way now of telling them "Hey. Spoilers. Not cool."

So there. :P It's easy enough to either make an LJ for commenting, or to email me, as my email address is on the LJ info page.

Yup. I'm only getting a couple of spambots a week, which is a manageable amount, and I'm getting fewer than that on the anon comments - most of my anon comments are people who forgot they weren't logged in to LJ - but it's just so annoying to not be able to reply. I certainly don't believe that any of the anon commenters are ever coming back to check for replies to their comments, because none of them have ever replied to any reply I make. And it's only common courtesy to do so, so the hell with them since they can't be bothered.

I wish LJ had the OpenID thing enabled on posts with anon comments turned off, because I also believe that they shouldn't have to make an LJ just to reply, but this is the best option I've got.

I turned off anonymous commenting a long time ago because I got tired of pointless flames. -_-

I have e-mail notification turned on so I don't miss replies to entries or comments, but that gets kind of annoying when I post a new entry at the RP comm I co-moderate. It'd be cool if I could choose which community entries I want to NOT get notifications from for a while. I don't want to miss comments on comments, but having my e-mail inbox flooded with a hundred RP comments is silly. =-P

They have that! When you make a specific post, you can select "don't email comments", if that helps. That way you still get comments on the post but dont' receive notifications for them.

I don't think they have anything similar for threads, however.

I screen anonymous comments -- humans get unscreened, robots stay screened, I don't have to stir myself to delete spambot comments, and everyone is happy. But I am 100% sure that you get more spam/stupid comments than me.
