Jigu: Thunder Drums of China

The good: The performance was awesome.

The bad: They were selling CDs after the show, but dammit, I paid for dinner with cash and didn't have enough to buy one. AAAAAARRRRGGGGGGGGHHH. If ANY of you happens to be going to see this show, plz to be getting me a CD. I will happily send you the cash before the show. Yes, I looked online. They are not making it easy for me to GIVE THEM MONEY.

The ugly: Traffic on the way there. 'Nuff said.

Hey, you saw it too! I thought it was awesome, though most of the time I couldn't tell it apart from taiko. Well, until they brought out the clashy cymbals, and then it sounded totally Chinese.

The mouse one cracked me up so much!

Yeah, I was thinking that the primary difference from the taiko drummers I've seen was that the Chinese drummers wore more colorful clothing. XD

The mouse one was so funny! XD And I really liked the Boating on the Yellow River one, too, and how the guy on the big drum was wielding his drumstick like a boatman's oar.

OMG! The Chinese opera costumes were awesome! All the feathers and pennants waving around as the people drummed! Also, I swear the guy randomly dancing in the front was supposed to be Monkey.

Here are some publicity photos (http://www.iaipresentations.com/jigu_hrp.html) of the troupe. :D They're high-res, too - don't click on any of them if your net is running slow. XD
