Duo for Yoon

yhlee asked me to make a picture for the background of her new laptop, named Duo. She asked for Duo Maxwell, a kitten, and ginkgo.







In other news: at work, but not happy about it and may be leaving at lunch. Also, via baka_neko, a Japanese schoolboy cafe where you, too, can pretend you're in your own version of Ouran High School Host Club.

Duo is the least crazy of the five giant mecha pilots in Gundam Wing, which, if you take into account the fact that he wears a long braid, jodhpurs, and a priests' collar, says quite a lot about the rest of them.

Yeah, it's weird that Heero's the only Gundam pilot who goes horseback riding, and he didn't get jodhpurs. Maybe Duo wanted to be prepared? Or to impress Heero?

(Okay, I...wouldn't've done that, because I would have shot myself rather than stare at the CLOWN PANTS all day. Trowa does look pretty in a uniform, though. If you can get over the hair.)

Hence the legions of American Gundam Wing slashers who write Duo so that he cries a lot and is emotionally fragile. Which is so completely out of character it boggles the mind. But rachelmanija's theory is that they look at the long hair and go, Girly! Or something.

Someone on my flist - I think it may have been yhlee came up with the idea that they only had a certain amount of sanity points among them, which got traded back and forth to each other across the course of the series.
