Oh, wow.
On Sunday after the con, I went through the apartment and pulled out Yet More Crap to throw away. I've gotten rid of all the home-taped VHS tapes, and put all the commercial ones into a box with DVDs I never watch to go to Half-Price Books at some point. I got rid of all the old crappy cassette tapes as I no longer own anything that will play them (technically I own a Walkman somewhere, but it's currently hiding unless I threw it away in a previous fit of downsizing). I got rid of the broken fan and most of the hatboxes. Love 'em, but I never put anything in them, and they just sit there and gather dust.
I also dragged the six boxes that have been in my closet since I moved here and went through them. I'm glad I did so, instead of throwing them away unopened like I'd threatend to do, because one of them was full of Mom's stuff, and one of them had my Nikon 2020 film camera body in it. XD Not counting Mom's stuff, I pulled out less than one box's worth of stuff to keep - postcards and photos and a few pieces of kitchen equipment, plus my Trigun figurines*, and two intriguing records.
One of these records was a transcript of a long dream I had back in 1994 and wrote and mailed to
bpggle in those wild pre-LJ days. As it is in my lousy handwriting, I'll have to work hard at transcribing it at some point. XD The other interesting thing is a small notebook my roommate and I used to keep track of the wildly complex social lives we and our friends were all having for the duration of one semester. Wow. Anyone want me to transcribe it? XD (Names suitably altered to prevent Googling, of course!)
* Vash original out of box in plastic bag, Vash black repaint mint in box, Meryl Stryfe mint in box,Wolfwood out of box in plastic bag. Anyone want any of them? I'll pass on the plastic-bag specials for $5+shipping each, and the mint-in-box ones for $30+shipping each, since that's around what I see them priced as online.
