Back from ConDFW. Tired. Am very glad I took Monday off as well. Don't expect panel descriptions and commentary from me, because - probably much to the horror of most of you out there who go to cons - I almost never go to panels any more. If I do, it's either because there's an author I really want to see there, or because it promises to be really funny. I also don't take notes because it seems too much like school to me, and about ten minutes into the note-taking I start resenting it. :D

That being said, I attended two panels. Neither of which was really a panel. The first was a showing of a horrible movie where the audience was encouraged to talk during the presentation - the movie was Hercules in New York, Schwarzenegger's first movie - and the second was the traditional ConDFW SF Spelling Bee. :D

Went to dinner with friends Saturday night at a Japanese-Thai place, which turned out to mean they had some Thai dishes along with the sushi. :) I had white tuna for the first time, which was good. This place also served quail eggs in a way I hadn't had them before - raw, with the top nipped off and a dollop of Thai chili sauce and a few sesame seeds, propped up on a blob of wasabi. You ate it by basically doing it like a shot - a quail egg is very small. :) It was good and I'd eat it again, but the chili sauce was hot enough that I'd be happy with just one.

Ducked out about noon on Sunday, and Himself worked on the new computer. The CPU was overheating and, when it was dissected on Thursday, we found the heat had warped the motherboard. A good application of thermal paste and two new fans later, and it's humming along quite nicely at approximately 48°C, which is much better than the 80ish it was hitting before.

Am almost through with the currently-available episodes of Avatar! One more to go!

P.S. If you like either David Weber or Jim Butcher, you might consider putting ConDFW on your to-do list next February, as we've got both of 'em coming. :D
