You know how much I paid for the copy I eventually found? $17. (After searching for about six months, admittedly.)

I haven't gotten around to canceling my automatic searches, because the prices they turn up with are so entertaining. This is the highest price yet.

Yup - just like my Sally Watson books: Witch of the Glens, good condition, $ 438.99. Lark, very good, collectible: $ 825.00
(!!!). The Hornet's Nest, $ 400.00.

The Lark search also turned up a first edition in very good condition for $ 26.50, so Lord knows what the other seller is thinking of ... (I already have a copy, or I'd snag the cheaper one.)

It makes me wonder if anyone actually ever pays those prices.

O_o

I always wonder if anyone actually pays those prices. There is a series I read most of, Chung Kuo by David Wingrove, and the final volume was only ever published in the UK and in limited quantities, so I've never been able to finish the series. ;_; Currently the lowest on Amazon is $65 (hardcover is $227), though when I was looking a couple years ago even the paperbacks were several hundred dollars.

O.o

What gets me is the 24 cents. Why four hundred thirteen dollar and 24 cents???

Because nobody would buy it if it was four hundred thirteen dollars and twenty five cents, obviously.
