Woah, dude... a Google search for "kazuya minekura" without the quotes brings up my Saiyuki manga analysis as hit #3, behind Minekura's home site, and a dead site. I wonder who's linking to it - I know that a good part of Google's search algorithm ranks sites according to how many people have linked to it using the search terms. The "Find sites which link to this site" doesn't pull anything up.

Ooh - a search for it using quotes makes me hit #2, behind Minekura's own site. Whee!

[ edit ] The real reason I was doing a search on Kazuya Minekura - I was trying to Google a good picture of Dokugakuji from Saiyuki because I had a wild hair that if I did convince [livejournal.com profile] bpggle to stay in California for the weekend after the Internet Librarian conference to be my booth-babe at Yaoi-Con, he'd make a really good Dokugakuji.

Pictures: Dokugakuji. | | bpggle.

Thoughts? (Yes, he's currently beardless, as far as I know.)

ohmygodyes.
Admittedly, Doku is my second creamy fascination next to Kou.

And congratz on that google linkage! Damn, that's always a great pull. Second to the mangaka!

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
He's got the build, height, and presence for Doku and I don't think he'd complain about the fangirly attention, especially since Y-con is 18+ only, so you don't have that whole "jailbait" thing going on.

I have a sneaking hope that she does some ego-surfing occasionally and comes by my site. Not that she's likely to be able to read it, and will only see that I've drawn big red lines through her artwork. XD

But you made the first page! That's awesome, congrats. (I suspect google does something where it pulls up things you, personally, are connected to in some way? I never used to get livejournals when I did searches and I get them all the time.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Weird. I get #3 all the time. Hm.

Anyway, I'm still a top hit no matter what. XD

[identity profile] mistressrenet.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool. And yes on the Doku. Oh yes.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
XD. Now I just have to (a) get confirmation from him that he he *will* go (b) make reservations and (c) confiscate my sewing machine from my mother. Heh.

Oh, and (d) addict him to Saiyuki. XD

[identity profile] mistressrenet.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't that our goal, for, like, everyone? XD

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. Right there on the agenda in black and white.

[identity profile] jennipop.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Man! That's one sexy librarian! hehehe!

Dress that boy up! I know he'll look perfect because you will make the costume work on him.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
YOOOOOOOOUU want to come out to San Fran, too, for the con! YOU KNOW YOU DO!!

Yes, I am at work today, to get some coding done WITHOUT INTERRUPTION!!! Of course, I'm distracting myself immensely with the Net.

[identity profile] jennipop.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
You KNOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW I wanna but isn't it the weekend I have to go to the Bling-bling conference in Philly? *reportmereportmereportme www.ambushmakeover.com reportmereportme*

Anyway, what who would you dress me up as?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
October 28-30 (http://www.yaoicon.com/)??

Hm..... I can't dress you up as any of the Saiyuki chicks to go with Clint without stuffing your bra because they're all STACKED, even the 15-year-old. Not that there's that many, either - Lirin (http://paper.nii-jyeni.org/saiyuki.php?ID=164), Yaone (http://paper.nii-jyeni.org/saiyuki.php?ID=165), and the hermaphrodite god/dess Kanzeon (http://paper.nii-jyeni.org/saiyuki.php?ID=162) are about it.

*reportmereportmereportme www.ambushmakeover.com reportmereportme*

What? What's that? Were you saying something?

they want a digital photo of both people if someone's reporting a friend; is that to make sure poeple aren't reporting themselves?

[identity profile] jennipop.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Hum. October. Let me think about it. I like Lirin. You know I'm partial to band-aids in costuming. But you are right about the um...chest region...um, not happening. A stuffed water bra maybe?

Not speaking about how you are not reporting me to www.ambushmakeover.com, don't we have some photos of us together from the art car trip?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
A stuffed water bra might work - Lirin doesn't show cleavage, so it wouldn't be obvious. <a href='http://paper.nii-jyeni.org/saiyuki.php?ID=154">Another pic</a>. You'd need a blonde wig. I have no idea where the art car trip pics are - on some CD, I think. I'd have to go home and look for 'em...

[identity profile] mistressrenet.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Lirin kind of looks like she's wearing a stuffed water bra anyway, actually.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup, the slim ribcage and huge bazoombas kinda leave that impression. :)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, why didn't my link or the rest of my comment show up???

Another pic (http://paper.nii-jyeni.org/saiyuki.php?ID=154).

And I'd said that I wans't sure where the art car trip pics were - on some CD somewhere. I'd have to look.

[identity profile] rachelmanija.livejournal.com 2005-04-17 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
Her nipples are pointing in opposite directions. I find that disturbing.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-17 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Speaking as someone somewhat more endowed than normal, though not overly so ... it's not that impossible. XD

[identity profile] rachelmanija.livejournal.com 2005-04-18 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. You learn something new every day.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-18 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It's due to failure to readjust after one dons a bra. :)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Unless you wanted to cross-dress - there's TONS of guys in Saiyuki XD

[identity profile] jennipop.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I could cross-dress. In my present girly mood, though, I'm liking the idea of stuffing a water bra. Ask me next week.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-16 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
If you did Lirin you could eat a lot, too. She's tough and brash and a fighter, but is easily distracted by food.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-17 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Come back to this page and read through the other responses for an EASY EASY EASY costume idea. You'd just have to get the hair (http://www.yale.edu/anime/imgarchive/Death%20Note/DN-ch42-01.jpg) right (http://www.yale.edu/anime/imgarchive/Death%20Note/dn_raito.bmp), and as long as you're still caramel, you've got the perfect color (http://www.yale.edu/anime/imgarchive/Death%20Note/DN--037_00.jpg).

[identity profile] rachelmanija.livejournal.com 2005-04-17 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Who could you dress me up as? (Say Lirin and DIE.) I think anyone short of of a DD would have to bra-stuff anyway. Or I could impersonate a guy.

(5'0", 107 (approximately), medium length dark brown hair.)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-17 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
There's always the indecisively aggressive Yaone: *throw bombs* "Oh dear, is anyone hurt???" XD Of course, the costume is (a) ridiculous) and (b) probably way uncomfortable.

Hm.... Short, slim, medium-length dark hair. For the non-pornographically skimpy outfits, there's Meryl Stryfe (http://www.absoluteanime.com/trigun/meryl2.jpg) from Trigun.

There's also one of the two main female characters from Boogiepop Phantom (http://animepa.csusm.edu/galleries/A-B/BoogiepopPhantom/lg/chara.jpg).

There's Anko (http://anko.sayuri.us/media/Anko_008.jpg) from Naruto - that's a fanart, but I can't find an official pic that's full-length.

If you wanted to cross-play, there's always Gojyo's Heavenly incarnation, Whatshisface. Yeah, you're shorter than Gojyo, but hey - jsut don't pose for pictures next to anyone really tall. His coat is structured enought aht you could pad out the shoulders and nip in the waist and get a decent silhouette out of that. (You could do Hakkai's divine incarnation, too, except that everyone would assume you're Nii Jienyi, despite the lack of a stuffed bunny, because it's just normal clothes, a lab coat, and glasses. OTOH, lab coat, stuffed bunny, and glasses, and there's our favorite pyscho. XD)

A schmear of eyeliner, white longsleeved shirt, tastefully accessorized with handcuffs on a chain and you'd be L.

If your hair's an all-one-length bob, one embroidered cheongsam later and your Count D from Petshop of Horrors. Especially if you have a stuffed animal that looks sort of like a pear with bat wings.

... I've watched tons and tons of anime. Why can't I ever think of any when called on to do so?

[identity profile] rachelmanija.livejournal.com 2005-04-17 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
L! That's a GREAT idea! I could walk around barefoot with a chocolate bar and relapse into my natural bad posture. Plus, I really do sit on chairs the way he does, and I can pick things up with my toes.

My only worry is what heavy eye makeup would do to my contacts.

...Um... don't take this the wrong way... but do you happen to have handcuffs on a chain I could borrow?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-17 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
XD And it's so easy to do, too, no sewing or tailoring needed, just find a pair of baggy jeans and a baggy white long-sleeved shirt.

Sorry, no, I don't have handcuffs on a chain. :) A quick Google shows that it's possible to get a pair of cheap handcuffs for $15-25. I have no idea if it's possible to clip off the connecting links with a boltcutter and put a length of chain on. There's always costume shops to try, to see if it's possible to find plastic handcuffs, though I don't know how easy it would be to clip the links and replace them with chain.

You wouldn't *have* to have the chain, but I think it's the killer app of the costume - the one that will make people think your is the best of the other L costumes they see. I made [livejournal.com profile] jennipop Rei Ayanami's blue jumper, and we bandaged her up (http://www.sfolse.net/cos/rei.html) and *that* made her stand out from the other Rei Ayanamis. I also did her an Aya coat from Weiss Kreuz (http://www.sfolse.net/cos/aya.html) but there was no killer app there unless you count the fake leather which I NEVER want to sew again.

Hmmm. Looking at her hair there, if she wanted to do a simple costume, she could easily do Raito/Light, and she'd be recognizable as long as you accessorized yourself with her. XD Now we just have to convince her she really really wants to come.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-04-17 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
* The ANko picture *is* official art - it's a screencap. I foudn it after I typed that and forgot to edit the sentence.
