Poll!

Here's the poll I threatened, about the AWESOMETASTIC MANGA OF AWESOMENESS. With luck [livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija will receive it today, although with the weather between her location and mine, I fear it's more likely to be tomorrow or Monday. I hope tomorrow, at least, as I've got to work the Ref desk on Saturday.

[Poll #1127141]

What, do you think I'd really tell you what's in it?

No, I lie, the manga of which you speak cannot have cow bishonen -- the cow bishonen story got translated. ::g::

If it was the Adventures of Pole-Kisser That would be funny and weird at the same time. There could be a manga cameo appearance of you out there right now! :D

In a world where Anne Rice and the gloryfantastic emo vampire is the fandom norm, nurse/activist vampires are just too awesome to imagine. Especially happy nurse/activist vampires (well apart from the unDEAD part but love and eternal dedication to serve life conquers all, right? right!).

The only reason that I didn't vote for some of the other tasty choices (including the megane harem, Mello's posterior, and the ever-popular Sanzo), is that I could swear you noted earlier that it was totally worksafe ... .

I'm sure that depends entirely upon your workplace... XD

They fight crime

He's a bishounen vampire too vain to wear the glasses he needs, desperately searching for his lost love by kissing subway car poles in hopes of picking up her delicate scent with his exquisite sense of taste.

Unknown to him, she's been cursed to become a tiny fairy, reduced to making a living by raiding gachopon to dig out the ultra-rare chase capsules, despite the risks of being crushed or cheated. But secretly she dreams of being a manga artist, and creates doujinshi by strapping on teensy blades and inking by skating across the pages.

Trapped in a bento she never made, will he find her in time to rekindle their forbidden love?

If that's not it, then my second guess is Yokohama Kidaishi Kikou, Record of a Yokohama Shopping Trip.

HOW DID YOU KNOW? XD

(And I've told Rachel of the existence of YKK already, although she hasn't FOR GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT REASON read the scanlations yet.)

I read several volumes, and I liked it a lot! I should get back to it, though as you know, Bob-Stephanie, I don't like reading stuff online and it's even harder now that I'm strictly limiting my internet time to save my elbows.

[identity profile] rachelmanija.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I love the vampire nurse story. I think we should write it if it doesn't exist alrady.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Since it's Florence Nightingale, we should incorporate statistics, since she basically invented them. :)

[identity profile] rachelmanija.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? Wow! Oh, I guess she kept statistics on what actions produced what results in the ward, huh?

But I think she should be keeping vampire statistics!

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
She kept stats on how many soldiers died of wounds, vs. died of disease and infections. :) I think she even invented the pie chart.

*wiki* OK, she didn't invent stats, but she was one of the main contributors to modern statistics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_Nightingale#Statistics

[identity profile] rachelmanija.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
So this series could have vampires, nurses, activists, bishounen, statistics, and pie! I think we have a winner!

(Ducks and runs.)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I know there's a manga about economics ... there's bound to be one about statistics somewhere. XD

I realized five seconds after I posted that synopsis there is, in fact, a comic about bishounen vampire health-care reform activists. This is the what you call, subconscious.

No Florence Nightingale, though.

[identity profile] coraa.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man, I want the horse/tractor FORBIDDEN LOVE OTP story to be real. Also, the Florence Nightengale vampire nurse/activist one. If they don't exist, they so should.

Although a shoujo harem manga with all the men wearing glasses would be pretty awesometastic, too.
