THank you! I did the detail on the hem by finding a Photoshop brush that stamped a pattern, and then distorting it with Photoshop's Liquify tool to fit the hems. XD Seems to have worked.
Not really at the moment. I messed up her face, I know, but as I'm not going to go back and fix her face or anything else right now, crit would be kind of wasted on me. XD
Tang Dynasty China via the many, many screenshots of cdramas I downloaded, so I'm not entirely sure about the actual historic-ness of the outfit, but close enough for government work. XD
I've got both fan and nonfan art ideas, but everything's all mixing up in my head. Mind you, what I need to be work on is the Bleach doujinshi Rachel and I are doing, so therefore all I want to do is paint. XD
Painter. I did the sketch in Photoshop, and put the design on her hems in Photoshop (Liquify tool, o how I love you, now that I know of your existence!), but the rest was Painter. Artist's Pastel brush at 100% grain, a bit of smoothing with the Just Add Water blender, and that's about it. :D
Just Add Water is an awesometastic blender. I just have to remind myself not to use it much, lest I over-blend everything. XD I'm just using it to smooth out any leftover brushstrokes that distract from the picture here.
I have recently managed to cut my time for doing something like this by an amazing amount. It used to take me days (and then I'd get bored and never finish). This one took 11.5 hours from sitting down going "I want to paint. Hm. What should I paint?" to posting it to LJ. That includes going through several ideas at the sketch stage, spending way too long looking for reference, and making dinner. XD
Just cruising by on friendsfriends and wanted to tell you how gorgeous this is. As everyone has said, the detail on the fabric is wonderful, and I love the color choices.
That's so beautiful!!! The little details are killing me - that knotted tassel, and the little dents in her knuckles, and the pattern on the band on the robe's neckline, and the way the light falls on it ... .
(And my God, you've been busy! Aren't you going blind from spending some much time at your screen? > worries < )
(I needed to get my requisite 14 hours a day at the computer in, since I couldn't get online more than 10-15 minutes at a time Thursday and Friday without getting nauseated! XD)

I'm finally getting myself free of the tyranny of lines! Although sometimes I like lines! XD

That's gorgeous. You did the drapes of the fabric beautifully! The detail in the trim is lovely.

I think the nonfanart thing is in the air right now. I've got a few I'm finally really working on. XD

Was it photoshop or painter?
