Reminder!

Analysis of chapter 118 of Bleach (in volume 14) is posted on Google Docs here! Comments HIGHLY ENCOURAGED, even if you think you don't have much to contribute! I want to know what I'm not seeing in it.

If you want to be able to edit the document itself - which I also encourage because the idea of a collaborative document is nifty - let me know your email address* and I'll send you an invite.

It's not just about the art, it's about layout, pacing, writing etc. They all form one big whole.

* Don't assume I already have it - odds are I've lost it, or only have your Paypal email or something like that. Email me at telophase14 (at) gmail (dot) com.

ETA: The original post on this is here.

Oh! I missed that first entry. Will comment when I get home and have access to the volume.

And I just managed to articulate why page 4 of the dj was bothering me the way you've got it written now, because of this analysis. :D (Two characters showing up for the first time in the setting near the end of the page, basically. I've thought up a way to fix that, though. XD)

Oooh, more manga analysis! I missed the original post ... . I don't have much to say that's not obvious anyway, but I enjoyed going through it very much.

Re p. 7 and the RRRMMMMMMMMBBBB SFX - yeah, spiritual energy and/or spiritual power is what I'd say. Kube has it whenever someone (our POV character) perceives another person with an overwhelming spiritual energy level.

[An aside: Re the contrast in the way the backgrounds are for Yoruichi and Byakuya: Kamijyo does the same thing in SDK with Hotaru and Shinrei, for the same reasons.]

I think a lot of people missed the original post - I usually get way more responses to something like that. XD

Oooh, I'll have to look for that in SDK. I need to start over and rerea, anyway. I rocket through it the first time way too fast to take note of anything much besides WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?!

fmanalyst already has SDK vol. 26! I'm doing some online shopping anyway, so I think I will just order it.

I think it's mainly vol. 22 I'm remembering - where the battle between the two half-brothers is wrapping up - there are several scenes where Shinrei talks about how free Hotaru is and we keep getting shots of the sky ... I wanted to check what's shown for Shinrei instead, but I can't find the book right now, dammit ... .

(I'd be thrilled to see some analysis of SDK chapters. Kamijyo's drawings are so detailed ... it's almost more shoujo style.)

Woo! I have a Borders coupon, so will get it there. (I jsut put in an Amazon order, but for Dokebi Bride 6, Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service 4 & 5, W Juliet 13 & 14, and Skip Beat 2, to qualify for the 4-for-3 deal going on right now on many manga (among other things)).

Accck! I totally forgot about KCDS! I was on there, racking my cold-hobbled brain for what else to get, and couldn't think of anything!

>sigh< Oh well, another goodie for another day.

May I add comments?
I mean, yeah, you don't know me and I really don't know you- but I love your manga analysis and well analysis in general and I can't resist.

I do this type of thing all the time, but usually just stuff my notes in a folder and sit on them. It never really occurred to me to um, share. Lately I've been bananas over composition and pacing and repetition- so I'd love to add my thoughts.
