telophase: (Kenpachi - are we having fun yet?)

(no subject)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah, I love doing this to people.

It was originally the same Renji pic that everyone's hotlinking. Don't blame them, actually; it's really nice.

ETA: Now to figure out why the hell it's giving me Kenpachi-chan when I link to it from LJ... the .htaccess file should be letting through everyone I don't explicitly say no to.

ETA2: Caching issue, actually. Not a problem. :) Right-click and choose "View Image" or force a browser refresh if the link on "it's really nice" gives you Kenpachi-chan.

Kenpachi-chan exists to bring joy and happiness and the need for gallons of brain-bleach to the world!

Your joy at doing this is something else.

You're living vicariously through me. Don't deny it. XD

i have far, far too much self awareness to ever deny it.

Truly a thing of beauty!

But what if people start hotlinking the Kenpachi? D: I mean it's truly a thing of beauty! :D

That may be the time to invoke this one!

Amy chance I could borrow the no hotlinking (on a photobucket account) image to explain to people on a particular board, that yes, Ken-chan is hot! But it's also not very polite and we should listen to his advice? :DDDD

I'd link to your site as well! :D

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Go right ahead! XD

(And even feel free to hotlink that one. XD totally not because I can tell where people are coming from if you do)

And because you may or may not be able to hotlink depending on what domain the board is on, the original context, and scan, is here: http://telophase.livejournal.com/1024668.html

Isn't it? XD

[identity profile] rurounitriv.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! Still there.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
We can figure out how often they log into their Friendster page. XD The Gaia Online guy finally removed my hotlink, although I note that he's still hotlink aaaaaall the other Renji pics he can find. XD

[identity profile] rurounitriv.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
Well, so much for learning a lesson as far as the Gaia guy is concerned. Of course, he's probably either totally ignorant about things like bandwidth limits or just the kind of person who thinks they should be an exception to common courtesy because they're Just That Speshul (my bet is on option #2). Ten gets you one he thinks you're a jerk who's making a fuss over nothing.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Probably. And I technically am - I get 5 terabytes bandwidth a month, and I doubt he's so internet popular as to suck any measurable amount of my bandwidth.* But it's fun to imagine them thinking about how long that beautiful picture of Kenpachi-chan has been featured on their page...

* One of the reasons I keep a close eye on hotlinking is I don't want any quizzes hotlinking from me, because *that* can eat my bandwidth like nobody's business if it takes off.

[identity profile] rurounitriv.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
You are and you aren't - it's not going to affect your bandwidth much, but there's other people existing on the hairy edge of their bandwidth limits, and he may well be hotlinking from them too, and screwing them up. If he'd learned the lesson (hotlinking=bad) then you'd have done them a service.

Unfortunately, Gaia-dude is either too ignorant or too selfish to figure that out.

Yeah, you don't want to get slashdotted by proxy. :P

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. :D Right now my biggest bandwidth suck is the various flavors of Google Images, which is a two-edged sword - I want people to be able to find my doujinshi, but I'm also vaguely annoyed at having that be the largest number of hits on my site. But if I blocked Google Images, a huge number of people would never run across me. Ah well. I'll just whine about it.

(What really bugs me is the odd page where I can't figure out why I got a hit from it - I've got a low but steady stream of hits, like 2-3 a day, from aimtoday.com/aimtoday (or something like that), which is obviously a dynamic page, but I don't know if it's because someone has the zanpakuto meme in their AIM profile, or because they're hotlinking me. Hrm. Same with the Myspace bulletin page I'm getting occasional hits from. And today I noticed a site written in Hebrew that looks like it might have profiles, so I don't now again if it's the zanpakuto or hotlinking getting me the hits.

None of them are extensive hits, so it really doesn't matter as of yet, it's just all annoying mysteries.

It's the little heart-font that makers it all the better. XDDDDD

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
Naturally! Kenpachi-chan deserves no less!

Man, that layout (as intended) is a horrible waste of a lovely image. As is though...WIN.
