Hello--I know you've talked about copyright and fanart and legality jazz in the past, but I have not had any luck finding the post in your memories (although it may also be that I suck at finding stuff in general), and I vaguely remember this post was a few years ago so reading through aaaaaaaaaall of the archives is a daunting task. Do you happen to have a link handy, or would you be willing to point me toward resources on the topic? I found this (http://www.leakylounge.com/betaforum2.3.1/index.php?showtopic=48906) but am kind of at a loss as to whom I should trust, and I figured I'd ask a resident expert. ^_^
Well, there's the Copyright FAQ (http://telophase.livejournal.com/548045.html) I wrote. :)
Basically: technically you can't sell something you made using other people's characters - not even the original, as someone says in that thread, because it's a derivative work and it's up to the holder of the copyright to authorize the creation of derivative works. In practice, however, the companies who own the copyright don't bother to serve C&D letters if you stick to a small scale.
OT question
