[community profile] yuletart!

I just got my [livejournal.com profile] yuletart assignment. :D And I rather like it: I've got several things I can choose from to draw. XD

And, as suggested: To My [livejournal.com profile] yuletart Santa!

Thank you! I will be thrilled to death with whatever you give me especially as I've forgotten what I asked for so you could probably get away with just about anything. I am total pants at coming up with art prompts, which is one of the reasons why I made the Random Art Prompt Generator, so you can always resort to that if you need to. :D I don't really go for particular pairings in fandoms, so you don't need to worry about offending me if you decide to draw your OTP.

One of the things I posted in my Guide to Internet Popularity over on DA is:
6) Don't think that popularity has anything to do with the quality of your work. People don't fave pics and re-visit them and pimp them to their friends because they're great on the technical level. People do that because they respond to the picture on an emotional level. Give them a picture that makes them LAUGH or CRY or say "AWWWW!" or GET ANGRY or FALL IN LOVE with the character. And I'm not talking (only) comics. My most popular pictures are ones that tell a story somehow. Just from looking at the picture, you can imagine what has just happened before and what it about to happen after the moment the character/s was/were captured. Go to my gallery stats page and check the Favorites. You'll note that the ten top pics (listed below) all tell a story of some sort, and that the top three are really awful artwork compared to other pictures
So if you're up for a challenge: see what sort of story you can tell with the picture. Or failing that, any sort of art of the characters of Project Blue Rose or Spindrift, the comics I drew, would thrill me no end. My partner in crime for that is [livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija, and she would be happy to tell you about the stories and characters, or point you to pictures of the characters that are online. (Her email address is on her LJ info page, and http://www.projectbluerose.com has some pictures and description.)

If you look through my DA gallery (or click the "art" tag here), you can see the sorts of characters and topics I've done, and if you check my DA favorites, you can see the sort of art that's really struck my eye. If you can find any sort of common theme there, because I sure can't. :)

I shall stop rambling, because I expect I've only confused you more. :D

I hope I get mine soon :(

They're emailing them out by hand instead of using an automatic process like [livejournal.com profile] yuletide does, so I expect it may be a while. :) But if you haven't got one by tomorrow sometime, I'd email them and inquire.

(My giftee actually requested something I've been kinda wanting to draw, so I'm thinking of attempting that first. XD)

:D And if someone emails you and asks, you hAve to be SOOPER SEKRITIVE about it and NOT TELL ME. XDD

(I found my original request, and yes I *did* put PBR and Spindrift on it, so at least I can request it with a clear conscience.)

Aye. My most faved or most commented on art pieces are frequently the ones that are just silly scribbles. What's eye-opening to me is when folks fave stuff in my scraps that I thought was just plain aweful. O_O

LOL. I don't think my favoriting has much rhyme or reason either aside from mostly being Saiyuki fanart.
