Home from work today, and possibly tomorrow. Went to bed a little after 11, and except for staggering out to the computer to email work at 7:30, slept for about 12 hours. Had very bizarre dreams that incorporated a sort of Venice in which I was a gondolier (pulled directly from the manga Aria, as I read volume 1 right before turning the light off), the last surviving member of a very very old house (no money left, squandered generations back), a painter of the Venice-type place, and also possibly a spy (well, you hear a lot when you're a gondolier); a grace-and-favour apartment in something called the Old Palace that was mine officially because of my family but unofficially for "services to the prince" that rumor had it was being an ex-mistress (but was actually because of the spy thing). And then Ichimaru Gin showed up in the gondola wanting a painting and inside the Old Palace were ghosts that over the course of the dream went from insubstantial and few to substantial and many, and they were hooked to these large holes in the floor with hoses (image taken from Mythbusters last night when they had the gas hoses) that glowed red and supplied life energy, and then somehow weren't really dead, and then there were these skeletal things that were really dead and I was shielding a pregnant woman from these things and Gin wandered off to attend a committee meeting.

So, yeah. My subconsious is a scary place at times, but it did supply some really nice visuals during the course of the dream.

I'd like to imagine Gin in a committee meeting, which is pretty surreal in itself.

I remember that at one point, when I and the pregnant woman were running along a corridor, I looked through a door and saw the committee meeting, with Gin sitting there.

I think the image came from Bleach anime ep 145, which I watched last night, and in which Aizen calls a meeting of the Espada to show them the intruders into Hueco Mundo, and they ... have a committee meeting. While watching that, I was also remembering a quote from Pratchett's Making Money about the Patrician appointing the ten loudest people to a committee and shutting them up in a room to get them out of the way, *and* something vague about the omake segments at the end of the anime called "Arrancar Encyclopedia" which mostly feature Gin with a long pointer in front of a screen with a PowerPoint-type display.

The fact that as part of a peer review promotion thing, yesterday I had to sit and enumerate all my committee particpation at work over the past three years, I am sure had nothing to do with associating committee meetings with zombies and hellfire and the undead.

Heh, I'm tempted to try interpreting this as being about your writer's block for Yuletide, with the preggie lady carrying your story and all these other things (Bleach and other manga/anime, your nasty work committee meetings .... ) trying to interfere with it.

XD (I'm about to pull out the Tarot cards and throw down a few layouts in an attempt to explain why character X does action Y in this story - it's the last bit that's got me blocked now. Mind you, it's not the same motivation that I was whining about not having earlier - I've got that figured out, but it of course produced this new action/motivation. :P)

I'm also going to take a moment to point out that I remembered the term for "grace-and-favour apartment" in my sleep. And that I correctly surmised it had hyphens in it, when I'm fairly sure I'd never seen it written downb efore I did the search for an approriate link this morning. XD (I was on a tour of Hampton Court Palace and the tour guide explained what they were and pointed out the area of the Palace that had them in it.)
