(no subject)

I've started another life-drawing course, through the extended education program here at TCU. I'd been losing my ability to draw the human figure without lots of reference. I've posted the stuff I did tonight to my DeviantArt account, and I'm going to try to continue to do so each week so I can have some sort of visual record of any improvement I might make.

DA is currently trying to advertise their big con-type thing and does that by hijacking visits to the site. The first time you click a link, you might go to a page extolling the virtues of this thing. If so, scroll down to the bottom and you'll find a button that says something like "Continue to deviantART". That *should* drop a cookie on your computer so that you'll never have to see the ad again.

My 1-minute, 2-minute and 10-minute pieces are in my scraps gallery.

20-minute piece #1
20-minute piece #2

Life drawing, so they're NEKKID. Should you be in a place that believes the fall of Western Civilization will occur should someone accidentally view an unclothed person, I'd advise witing until you're alone. They are, however, the very definition of artistic nudity.

That damn summit thing is starting to drive me crazy. If it weren't so damned expensive from the getgo, I'd probably have gone. But I think they shot themselves in the foot by charging such high admission to something they'd never done before...

Now all it does is annoy me....That and they're damned countdown....

I'm tired of seeing huge announcements about that stupid summit.

I can't see why I'd want to pay for the privaledge to meet some of those jack-offs. I can think of at least one mod I'd like to sok square in the face for complete, unprofessional conduct, but I know just that alone isn't worth the price of admission.

DA's become such a huge, commercial rip-off since it's 'humble' inception.

On a different note, I always enjoy your figure studies. The contours are always so graceful.

I think they should have gone for 2 or 3 smaller meetups, with lower costs, in different areas of the country. I know that I'm sure not interested in flying out to CA to go to this, but if they'd had a small one- or two-day thing in Texas, it might have been worth it to go and attend some of the classes. California, NY, DC, Orlando, Dallas/Houston, Denver, and/or Seattle would cover a good deal of the country, and smaller venues charge less.

Some of the classes might have been interesting to go to, but not worth airfare, hotel, food, and admission. Not when there's all sorts of cons I could go to.

Thanks! For once, I'm one of the better ones in the class - there's a lot of newbies in this one. And this was one of those classes where you're in the groove and you can't do a bad picture. Not all of them were good, of course, but none were bad. So now, when I go into my normal 3 or 4-week slump and produce nothing but crap, everyone's going to wonder what happened. :)

I've noticed that if I take a break from figure drawing, when I go back, I'm better, and it worked even when the break was almost a year this time. I guess something's processing away down in the depths of my subconscious. Now I just gotta power through the next few weeks of crap-production. :)
