I like the drawing, too, but on my screen the dark brown background blends into the hair and jacket. I hope your print version doesn't do that, as it would be ashamed if all that attitude didn't come across as nicely as it could.
I second the comment about the starkness of the background working well in this case. That and the color choices really make him ... I don't want to say "pop," because it's more subtle than that. But the combo brings him out really nicely.
