Next batch of photos - Jamaica
Just posted the next photoset of vacation photos at Flickr - the Jamaica Black River tour.
For our shore excursion in Jamaica, I took the Black River tour - we rode a bus for an hour and a half or so to the Black River and took a short tour up it, saw some crocodiles, then went back. I had a migraine at the time, so went straight back to the ship afterwards instead of poking about Montego Bay.
The Black River empties into the sea, so it's brackish at the mouth where the tour started. The sea is jsut to the other side of the bridge there.

Near the mouth of the river, the riverbanks tended to look like this.

Other parts of the Black River are a mangrove swamp - mangrives send roots down from their branches to the water.

A greater egret. The Black River looks black because of the peat moss at the bottom - the water itself i9s actually clear.

This guy was happy to show us his catch.

Another fisherman we passed on the way.

We saw three crocodiles. Who all came over to the boat because the guides threw them bread. :)

Derelict ship, taken through the window of the bus on the way back.
