Rome

I finally got around to renting the first DVD of HBO's ROme, and am partway through the first episode and vaguely remember there being a lot of talk around LJ when it first aired. If anyone has links to discussion/reviews/history neepery, please dish, kthxbai.

ETA: There was a party going on next door with loud music. Seeing as how she's never actually held a aprty before (or maybe she recently moved and new people moved in?) I'm not inclined to complain, especially since it's 1 AM and it seems to ahve shut down. The apartments are built strangely enough that boom-boom-boom of subwoofers is very prominent in my living room, but barely heard in my bedroom, plus I have a Jar o' Earplugs, so I was going to not worry about the noise. But it seems I don't have to worry about it any longer tonight. If it turns out that there really are new people next door and this is an every-weekend thing, or if it starts happening on weeknights, I'll complain, but the occasional Saturday evening is OK by me. Unless I happen to have a migraine. Then all bets are off.

Rome commentary (http://coffeeandink.livejournal.com/tag/rome). [livejournal.com profile] vaznetti probably had the most insightful commentary, though you may need to dig a little to find it; I found the series improved drastically near the end.
