Yuletide BPAL decant circle
And because it's not like I have ENOUGH scents that I need to get 'round to trying yet ... the Yuletide scents are live at the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, so it's ... decant circle time!
The Yule scents will be up until February 1st, so don't worry about a circle going out too late to order any of the bottles if you fall in love. I'd like to get the order off before October 27th, since I'm leaving for my CARIBBEAN CRUISE then, but if enough people want to wait until after Nov. 1st for paycheck purposes, then I'll place the order after I get back, which will be November 7ish. (I don't want to carry as much on my credit card this time as I did for the Carnaval Diabolique scents - I was fine then, but this month my card is making funny creaking noises due to buying summer clothes for the cruise. :D) I'll let you know when everyone needs to pay.
This poll is just for those who would be willing to order a full imp pack - 16 scents for $48 (and that includes shipping). Individual imps, which I'll post about after I find out how many want the full packs, will be $3 each (again, that includes shipping). Poll (with, naturally, a couple more questions about Sanzo than necessary XD), math and scent descriptions below the cut. :)
(I should probably mention that the shipping is for the US/Canada - add $2 for UK/Europe/Australia. :D)
ETA: If there's enough interest - and it's looking like there might be - I'll order 2 sets of the Yuletide scents and do a bigger circle.
[Poll #843937]
Math
17.50 each
16 bottles.
$280 + $12.50 shipping to me = $292.50
each bottle = $18.28 with shipping, 7 imps/bottle.
each imp = $2.61, add $.40 for supplies and shipping to round up to $3 - x16 = $48/pack.
Scent descriptions
The full, fancy descriptions are on the BPAL website here - just scroll down past the Halloween scents to find them (below the Pumpkin Patch graphics).
These are just the short descriptions with the scent components:
BLACK ICE
Lovely, dangerous, slick, and bitterly cold: chilly white sleet-like notes with a hint of vetiver, a breath of smoky asphalt, and winter wind.
THE DARKLING THRUSH
The hope of springtime penetrating winter darkness. Snow, darkness, and icy air illuminated by the thrush’s song: warm amber, soft orris, and melancholy violet. (Amber and orris = automatic OMG YES!! for me.)
HALÔA
Wine grapes, myrrh, frankincense and olive leaf, and the warm scent of offertory cakes.
HERR DROSSELMEYER 2006
Pipe smoke, sweet leather, woods and linen.
JACOB’S LADDER 2006
golden amber, galbanum, benzoin, ambrette, rockrose, costus and tonka.
JÓLASVEINAR
Their scent is a mishmash of snow, dirt, Icelandic moss, marsh felwort, and the smushed petals of buttercups and moorland spotted orchids, with the barest hint of the scent of pilfered Christmas pastries.
KNECHT RUPRECHT
The snow-covered foliage of the Black Forest and the fruit and woods of apple and almond trees.
KRAMPUS
Sinister red musk, black leather, dusty rags, and wooden switches.
LICK IT AGAIN
a peppermint candy cane with an extra jolt of sugar.
MIDNIGHT MASS 2006
This perfume is a traditional Roman Catholic sacramental incense, most often used during a Solemn Mass. Traditionally, five tears of this incense, each encased individually in wax that has been fashioned into the shape of a nail, are inserted into the paschal candle.
THE SNOW MAIDEN
Ylang ylang, osmanthus, spring berries, and daffodil cloaked in hoarfrost.
SNOW-FLAKES
The radiance and desolation of winter.
SOL INVICTUS
golden amber, saffron, heliotrope, hibiscus, citron, frangipani, frankincense, tangerine, mock orange, and orange blossom. (OMG YES!!)
STARDUST 2006
This scent reflects the futurism, self-indulgence and excess of the Glitter 70’s: champagne, hyacinth, tuberose, ylang ylang and flashing white musk with jonquil, tobacco flower, white sandalwood and a pale poppy.
THE WINTER OF OUR DISCONTENT
Embrace your villainy: balsam, myrrh, mandarin orange, bitter clove, artemesia, rosewood, nutmeg, dark musk, smoke and cypress.
YULE
It is Yule, and the Holly King has slain the Oak: blood red holly berry, mistletoe, wild thyme, verbena, cinquefoil, hemp, winter rose, evergreen, frankincense, juniper, and myrrh.
The Yule scents will be up until February 1st, so don't worry about a circle going out too late to order any of the bottles if you fall in love. You have been assimilated! You'll know you've hit the enxt step when you start running decant circles of your own, just to get a chance to sniff all the limited edition scents. XD
(Speaking of limited edition, if you haven't seen it yet, 13 is out today - it's only available on Friday the 13th, and is quite popular. The old formula never quite did it for me, but there's a new formula now, so I'm debating. XD)

I already signed up for a circle for 13! Bpal is certain madness. I think I just went over the $300 mark since August. It's a shame they didn't bring back Egg Nog, I would have loved to get a whole bottle of that!

It is, indeed, insane, and I admire the Lab for their canny business sense and marketing plan, crafted to encourage addicts and collectors like myself. XD
They may bring it back yet - at least one person was remarking on the lack of foody scents this time, and Beth says this isn't the end of the winter scents. :)

On the other hand, it would smell really good on a boy too.
Also, yay! My first telophase scent decant circle! None of the recent special editions before this had enough stuff that sounded good to me, but there might be some real winners here. I can hope!

It took me about two seconds to decide to get an imp of Perversion from somewhere (and about three days to find somebody selling one), so I'll be finding out shortly if I think ti's perfectly Sanzo or not. With any luck, today.

Alas, I could not vote in the mello poll because I have not read Death Note (yet!).

I'll be interested to see if you like Perversion. I didn't think I liked it at all, first sniff in the vial, had no intention of putting it on... and then I kept sniffing it again every so often, because there was just something about it. It even works on my skin-- unlike so many other BPAL things I've tried. Gluttony and Vice nearly made me nauseous, and Jack did.

I'm not optimistic about liking Perversion, because the Lab's leather note usually makes my a bit nauseated, but I'm willing to sink $2 into a used imp for the fun of it. XD The rum and tobacco might be good, though, so there's no telling.
Jack was awful on me, Gluttony was merely okay (some of the chocolate notes and vanilla notes turn to plastic on me), and Vice made me smell like a box of chocolate-covered cherries.

Plus I got paid today and am feeling reckless. :D

To me, it's a hoof infection. ::grew up 'round horses::
I'm waiting for the Man from Uncle fans to weigh in, now that we seem to have covered all the other thrushes.

I need a couple of days to think about the decant circle.

So far I've got 6 people signed up for it, but there's a couple of regulars who ahvne't dropped by yet. If it's looking like there will be enough interest to sustain it, I'll order 2 sets of the Yuletide scents and ahve 14 spaces open isntead of jsut 7. So, in other words - think all you want. There's 1 other person besides you who is thinking on it, and three poeple who I know want to get individual decants, so I think there's a reasonably good chance of a two-set circle making.
