OK, so today I dug up the 6000 words I'd written towards a story about 2 or 3 years ago. Original fic, guys, not fanfic, but it was about the Can't Sleep Con Will Eat Me guys. I'm rereading it, and am about 6 pages in and: hey, it's not as bad as I'd feared! Rough, yes. Overrun with heavy-handed metaphors, yes. In desperate need of editing, yes. But - so far - it's more readable than I remembered. I'm toying with the idea of signing up for NaNoWriMo again to see if I can get farther along on it, but every time I do that, someone comes along and wants to pay me money to do something in November and that ends up taking precedence. (Which, come to think of it, might not be a bad idea: I can always use someone paying me for something. :D)

Plus, the reason I stalled out on it, I realized after I spent a week staring at the thing, not being able to come up with more, is that I'd solved the problem that I'd set the main character up with. I think in order to go on, I need to set up more problems, and I'm not sure what they'd be or where to fit them in. Hrm. *ponders*

At any rate, anyone wanna read it? :D I think I'm going to create a filter for it and post it, in all its rough glory. And to that end, a poll!

On the one hand, I really want to read your stuff, because you tend to be funny and talented when writing your blog, and you have professional(ish) writing experience, and I'm always hard-up for good stuff to write read.

On the other hand, if (when) your writing turns out to be better than mine, I know I'll plummet off of the cliff of confidence down onto the foamy rocks of creative depression, and I just got my muse to come back to life.

So, I'm on the fence here.

NaNo's fun, even if it's just for the hell of it. Nothing's lost if you attempt it, right? I'm actually going to try to make it to 50K this year. I sat around and did the math to see how many days I would have to cram and do extra so I can slack off on other days. XD I feel so ridiculous.

I can see two possible outcomes: either again someone decides to pay me to do something, or I aggravate my RSI in my wrist. :) If either of those happens, I'm dropping it - income would be Good and having to do another round off treatment for tenosynovitis would be Bad. XD
