Project Runway

For the three of you on the friendslist who have been watching Project Runway...

I wasn't really surprised that Kayne was sent home, because he's just an over-the-top Southern pageant designer at heart. (cue diplomatic "We felt the taste level just wasn't there.") Predicting who's going home next week is a bit hard ... Michael's going all the way unless he fucks up bigtime, and I am looking forward to seeing what he produces. Uli, Laura, and Jeffrey all have the same problem: they design essentially the same thing every time, although Laura managed to do somethign different, so I think she's a bit stronger going into the next show, even though Jeffrey won two and she only won one. Thoughts?

[Poll #820351]

Mello hates all of the designers, although he hates Michael slightly less because he thinks Michael is cute.

They're starting to get bored of Uli, so if she doesn't come up with something that stands out next time I feel like she'll be out. Frankly, I still think Michael should have won today's (though I may be biased because I looooooove Michael ♥)...I just wasn't that big a fan of Laura's dress. I still thought it looked pretty old, but maybe that was just me.

Still laughing at Angela's dress though. OH MY GOD.

[identity profile] mscongeniality.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
I've been saying for a couple weeks that I think it's going to be Michael, Uli and Jeffrey in the final but really, it's going to be a close decision on who gets punted on the next show.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
I loooove Michael, too, and want him to be the big winner. XD I think Laura's dress was less "old" and more "classic", updated a bit with the feathers. But she's a fairly classic designer anyway, and I expect that if she makes it to the top, her clients will probably be more Ladies Who Lunch and not hot Hollywood starlets.

I can see what Angela was attempting to do, but it's the sort of dress that would look really nice in a comic book and not on a real person. :D

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
It'll probably be whoever screws up. XD I like it near the end when they finallys tart paying more attention to talent and skill than dramallamaness.

I must go read Tim Gunn's blog - he's so wonderfully snarky. I hear his podcasts are worth listening to, but haven't downloaded any yet. XD

[identity profile] mscongeniality.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
I love Tim's blog but am saving it as a treat for tomorrow. I already watched the preview footage for next week which was fabulous. I am sadly addicted to this show and probably should download the podcasts.

[identity profile] blades-of-ice.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
I've never, ever watched it, but felt inclined to vote anyway.

Just because I know Sanzo would be involved somehow.

[identity profile] tokyoghoststory.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
i like jeffrey's awful necktattoo

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
XD It was hard trying to come up with a fashion-related question that applied to Sanzo and didn't end with "Sanzo would shoot everyone." So I went with punctuation instead.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
He must have been so drunk when he got that ... that must have /hurt/.

[identity profile] tokyoghoststory.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
haha me and my best friend were talking about this last night. its a cool tattoo. cool idea. nice font.

BUT WHY THE FRICKING NECK?

his kid is gonna be like "gee dad that was real nice of you to do that, but too bad you look like a dickface."

shame too, he's pretty flipping cute.

[identity profile] keelieinblack.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
I can't vote in the poll as I have thoroughly spoiled myself and am thus fairly certain about who gets eliminated next week. :D

You should definite listen to Tim's podcasts if you have a chance--the snark is twice as entertaining when you can actually hear it. I usually spend the post-show time reloading the horribly-designed Bravo page to see if they're up yet.

[identity profile] dragovianknight.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Just so you know, I only voted because of Sanzo.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe I'll download it and put it on the iPod and listen to it on the way to work. XD

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
XD

Sanzo makes everything better! Or at least more snarky!

[identity profile] sangria2.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd love for Michael to win because on top of being a great designer, he's also a really good person. On the other hand, Jeffrey is way more entertaining and he cracks me up in every episode. Uli was my favorite at first, but she is getting really boring.

I was SO mad that they brought Vincent back last night, I can't stand that guy.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
When Vincent showed up, I was all I THOUGHT I WOULDN'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE CRAZY ANY MORE! But I knew it was a very slim chance that he'd win. :)

Jeffrey's good for the drama, but I have serious doubts about how he'd get on with real, demanding clients. :)

[identity profile] smithereen.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Personally I think Jeffrey should go home because he's a dick, and I think all his designs are not only the same thing over and over but also usually ugly. But I know he won't go because they're going to keep their "villain" in until the end. Unless he seriously, seriously fucks up like on the level of what he did during the moms challenge and sends an ill-fitting patchwork sack down the runway. I predicted at one point an Uli, Michael, Jeffrey final three. But after this week I can see either Uli or Laura making it in. I really can't see anyone but Michael winning this thing because he's the only one with a more diverse ability who's really able to design outside his niche.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I am secretly hoping he fucks up badly because I want to see him spaz about it on national TV. XD

*crosses fingers for Michael*

[identity profile] fourthage.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I will be very surprised if Michael and Jeffrey are not both in the top three. I'd like to see Laura make it, but it's gonna be a toss-up between she and Uli. In my dreams, Jeffrey will go home next week.

[identity profile] derjmeister.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
According to people in forums I spend to much of my time at, it's also misspelled. It should be "vita" and not "vida."

[identity profile] derjmeister.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Uli is going to go home. If, indeed, they have a final three. Every season, four collections have shown, just because for some reason, nobody at Magical Elves can figure out how to schedule their airings so the show that cuts down to final 3 actually happens BEFORE the fashion week show...which is tomorrow. So, all four of those designers are either showing tomorrow or PR risks news reporters spoiling the final three. Last year, Kara Janx showed (many people said her collection was better than some of the others, if not the best), and the year before, they let Austin do it, but with less time and a reduced budget...because they figured out too late that their Final 3 episode would air AFTER Fashion Week...

But in the preview commercial for next week, Heidi says "we're not necessarily committed to a final three!" so who know what is up with that crap. I'm waiting for the episode where they make them design clothes with only one hand and blidfolded. I think that's next season.

I think Michael's going to win. He is such a design STUD. Also, he seems like a genuinely nice guy, which is really rare in reality TV contestants. I think they should give Michael and Laura their own TV show. I would totally watch it.

Also, do listen to Tim's Podcasts. If you have iTunes, you can get subscribed to it and it's better than navigating Bravo's website, which is almost as difficult as mangaspace. Tim snarks a lot on Vincent in them. Also, you get a better idea of what's happening than if you're only watching the show.

[identity profile] derjmeister.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
What's up with me and typos today? >.> "too" and below should be "blindfolded." I think having to watch another week of Vincent getting auf broke my brain.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I was wondering how they handled that, since I figured out at one point that Fashion Week was occurring before the end of the show. XD

[identity profile] mistressrenet.livejournal.com 2006-09-17 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Angela has no clue what "enough already" is.

[identity profile] mistressrenet.livejournal.com 2006-09-17 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
They are excellent. They're not always jam-packed with inside stuff but his take and voice are priceless.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-17 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
If this much is good, then more must be better!!

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-17 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I listened to the most recent one the other day ... must go listen to more now! XD

[identity profile] mistressrenet.livejournal.com 2006-09-17 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
And don't forget the signature rosette!
