Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew.

Bacon makes everything better. Except for maybe Tang. And Honey Bunches of Oats cereal. And peanutbutter.

[identity profile] badnoodles.livejournal.com 2006-08-21 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm never gonna get used to the 31st century. Caffeinated bacon? Baconated grapefruit? Admiral Crunch?

[identity profile] jonquil.livejournal.com 2006-08-21 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, can't discuss; am too busy retching.
*pause*
What, they couldn't find the Velveeta?

Yuck

Peanut Butter.
Tang.
Bacon.

Keeping kosher never looked so good.

What.

I'm almost tempted to make it to see if it somehow tastes good, in defiance of all natural laws.

[identity profile] the-z.livejournal.com 2006-08-21 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it would taste better with ham or sausage. I've crumbled bacon into my maple and brown sugar oatmeal before, though. I doubt it's much different than that. The orange juice seems a strange combo. But hey! It's like a complete breakfast and it's going to get mixed in your stomach anyway. May as well skip the middle man.

[identity profile] jspurlin.livejournal.com 2006-08-21 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
seconded.

mmm velveeta-and-bacon-baked-potato...with all that other shit still in the fridge...

[identity profile] zarq.livejournal.com 2006-08-21 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah... go for some sort of spicy pepper jack. If you're going to stimulate your stomach into a full rebellion, you might as well go all out.

Without the Tang and with real bacon, that might be good. The artificial bacon freaks me out.

Random bacon recipe

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-21 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I've got a great recipe that I haven't made in way too long for a sort of breakfast-y thing with egg, bacon, maple syrup, and bread:

Cook bacon, crumble.
Melt 1 Tb butter with 1 Tb maple syrup
Smush slices of bread sort of flat, brush one side with syrup/butter mixture
Place bread, syrup side down, into muffin tin.
Sprinkle bacon into bread cup
Crack egg on top of bacon

Bake in 400° oven 15-20 minutes, until egg is at desired doneness.

I found that two was a good number for me to eat: three went into OH MY GOD TOO MUCH FOOD land.

*snerk* I think you've hit teh nail on the head, there.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-21 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Looking at it makes me want to keep kosher, and I'm not even Jewish.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-21 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not artificial! It's REAL[TM] Bacon (all rights reserved)!

Semi-randomly, I've got a good bacon recipe (http://telophase.livejournal.com/651508.html?thread=5659892#t5659892) elsewhere in the comments.

...Ew. I would not go near that, nevermind eat it.

[identity profile] arkanefyre.livejournal.com 2006-08-21 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I had syrup with my bacon once. It was the all day's breakfast thing, and the syrup on my pancake dripped onto my bacon. It was sweet and salty, like that sweet and salty crunch bar thing.

With peanut butter though? I don't like pb at ALL, so I'm biased. XD;;

[identity profile] the-z.livejournal.com 2006-08-21 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
...that sounds really familiar. I wonder if I've had that somewhere before-- like at a potluck :/a

I also enjoy sausage cheese biscuit balls. I don't know if I've ever posted the recipe in my journal. It's not a diet-friendly recipe, but it sure is good!

1 lb. pork sausage
1 bag shredded cheddar or colby cheese
2 cups bisquik (or similar) mix

Brown the sausage. Drain. Mash together in a big bowl with remaining ingredients and bake at 350 for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

My arteries hurt just thinking about it, but it's so unbelievably tasty! And I'll have to give your recipe a try too.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

I will have to try it one day ... after planning on eating nothing else but grean leafy things for the entire week to stave off the imminent heart attack.

*mad, I meant mad. But made works too, like made throw up.

[identity profile] rurounitriv.livejournal.com 2006-08-21 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
...Okay, now I actually like peanut butter. And bacon and syrup taste good together, although substituting bacon bits would ruin that. But mix it up with Tang, corn syrup and sweet cereal and you're looking to go into a diabetic coma and a heart attack at the same time.

I suspect that all the rest of the ingredients are a futile attempt at hiding the taste of the bacon bits and Tang. EW.

[identity profile] literaticat.livejournal.com 2006-08-21 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I could get behind peanut butter and HBoO - it's like a peanut butter granola bar.

I can go for bacon and syrup.

I can bend my mind far enough to understand these four ingredients together - it doesn't sound great, but it doesn't baffle me.

It's the TANG that I cannot fathom.

FOXTROT.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-08-21 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Someone pointed out elsewhere that it sounds like a recipe for dog treats. I know the dog we had growing up would be all BACON? PEANUT BUTTER? MINE!

[identity profile] asteres.livejournal.com 2006-08-21 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I've heard of maple-bacon, as somewhat hinted at above. It works pretty well. It goes well with baked beans. Also, after discussing Scotch Eggs a few entries back, and considering what this recipe sounds like, it makes a bit more sense. Scotch Eggs use breakfast sausage like Owen's or Jimmy Dean, with frosted corn flakes crumbled in the mix. But breakfast sausage is conducive to the recipe - it's a bit sweet. Bacon is pretty iffy here. The rest of the ingredients don't sound like a pleasant mix though.

Mmmmmm♥ :3

Now all you need is a little bit of Spam and Velveeta thrown in :D

"Yum, Yum"

jk

Ok, I happen to like the majority of these items seperatly but together? I think not, expecially the bacon bits >_<

I'm suprised that this doesn't call for chunks of Velveeta added into the mixture, then it could be all "I'm a McGriddle :D", only with peanut butter, and the drink of astronauts♪

Seriously this sound very digusting...I must find out if I could find a sutable use for these ^_^

Late into the night at a party, when your guests are drunk and have the munchies. You quietly slip them onto the table, and stand back to watch the fun.

I was amazed at the comments about how yummy-nummy the bars are for like two of the people who commented on the recipe.

[identity profile] miss-maroo.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
why Tang? what could it possibly bring to this bizarre little food party?

[identity profile] greenapple2004.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Peanut butter and bacon sandwiches are a Diaz Family stand-by, but...TANG?! That's where I draw the line.

Just going out on a speculative limb here, but I *suspect* that they just might possibly not be entirely vegetarian-friendly.
